Default Got my new ride!!!!

Well I bought my new ride today. I can't wait to get it home! I want to say thanks to CYA-Vett (Dave, who purchased my black because he drove over an hour to go check out the new car as it's located in PA). I have already begun buying parts for the new build. I will be selling a lot of the driveline parts after I secure all the parts I need for the conversion. My goal as of now is to run high 9s NA with full interior and no additional lightening except the drag pack while maintaining the street manners of the last car.(which was VERY streetable) Some may think I'm crazy but I'm sure it will be there with a little thought and a lot of hard work. I look forward the challenge of reaching my goals. When all said and done in full "let 'er eat "mode I hope to get in the high 9.7s or low 9.8s. I'm sure I will hit some bumps along the way but you guys helped me get the last one where it is! Thanks again to all my CF friends and let the journey begin!!

Damn, this is like the 3rd or 4th 'almost famous' Corvette that he has bought from a fellow forum member LOL.

An aluminum framed car certainly is a good foundation to work with.

I'm assuming that the main components will be an automatic conversion of some sort? Building a C6 Z06 automatic bolt on car was something I'd thought about doing ever since Gary (and Sebastian and Fartpipe) started going really quick with a manual bolt on Z06.

My plans are........
A4 conversion
Yank ss4000 (is there even another converter that comes close?...no)
LTs and x pipe.. no cats.. stock z06 muffs
I will port the stock intake and TB
vararam
Cam
I will pull the heads to swap ex valves and change springs.... If while apart I think that I can improve them through a little porting then I will at that time.
I guess if I stay with the z rear I will continue to use the 3.42 gears..if not I want to go 3.73 so I can run a taller tire.
That is pretty much the whole combo of my old ls2 so with more cubes and less weight it should run well in the 9s and still be quite the cruiser.
I'm not sure if I can get all this done before fall but I will surely try!
I hope we have a no Da%# excuses part 2 but not sure how lined out it will be by then.

I need to find a 05 auto shifter if anyone has one laying around

No doubt this should be a 9 second machine

Have you weighed it yet? I think it'll be 100 lbs lighter than our ragtops are.

I also think you're going to have to dust of your fab skills to make an adapter to go from the A4 to the Z06 rear...not sure how you're going to handle the 30 spline pinion on the Z rear?

You'd probably be money ahead selling the z tranny and rear, they get big money, and just going tried and true A4/C5Z like we are running now. Heck you could buy a couple of spare C5Z rears and have them setting around for what you can get for the C6Z stuff.

I'm excited to see your new build. A lot cooler than my new whip I'm modding.

Hey Norm,
I'm happy for you pal. Keep us posted. I'm glad you're out of the LS2 Fast list for internal mods.

I have considered going c5 diff as well. How much is my z flywheel, clutch.torque tube trans and rear worth if I sell it all?

How many miles?

There is a tranny and diff on ebay for $3800 now with 22k miles. New TT is $1000 so something less than that, flywheel & clutch not worth much. Don't throw them away though, I might be interested if it's in good shape. Just be sure and mark it before you take it off so it can remain balanced.

I've barely gotten over the sting of selling her and you're already sending her into surgery! Can't wait to see what it becomes, treat this car good. I miss her already!

I just realized you have an 07 with a T56, not the 6060 that was $3800. Still, your parts are valuable, more so than what you are putting in.
