how much power does it take to beat a Z06

The one time I've run my 08' LS3 in a head to head was from 40-120, and it walked a fellow club members stock 11' Z06 pretty handily. Got a tank of gas out of it, and a much quieter club member, which was better than the gas. Lots of stuff done to mine.....531/486 NA rwp
Interesting...I have walked 530+rwhp C6s all day long in my (stock LS7) Z....
From a roll race, the Z06 is pretty tough to beat, because 2nd gear in the Z is deadly....but the problem is keeping traction. You can't just stomp and go...you have to know how to squeeze it. I have rolled race with several fast cars out there, and have not had one that could keep up. A 700hp STi and a built M5 were the closest at a fender length...but like I said...it takes some a steady, gentle, yet abrupt foot to get it going.

As LFZ mentioned 2nd Gear in the Z is a monster..once you get the throttle management down it is tough to overcome how quick the car jumps... unless it's a 12 GTR or Viper/turbo Porsche (or of course ZR1) .. the Z will run away... vs start a roll race in 4th or 5th gear in the Z, and yea, its not going to turn out as well

I guess that depends on what you define as huge cam A cam that is going to help an LS3 pick up about 110-120 RWHP is pretty healthy JMO.. granted the supporting mods help too.. if that cam has worked heads also, headers etc..than yea you would not need a monster cam to get there.
Im hoping to make it with out a fast102....

It's always interesting to see different perspectives like this... as most know, what gear, and what MPH you start in a roll race is critical

the fast was one of the best mods i ever did and it greatly enhanced its z06 beating capability, it brings hp and tq up 30 more across the band, so you have more bottom mid and top it never stops pulling, its like night and day

i haven't lost any roll race, my a4 automatic drops to whatever gear is needed when floored and goes, the converter takes the rpm high the 305x35x18 on 11.5x18 CCW drag pack with skinnies up front rear mounted battery making it hang the wheels on the start with properly adjusted QA1's all without hitting the nitrous that is ready and set to destroy if anything gets close

To be sure, I'm not questioning or ragging on a Z, in fact - if the top came off I woul have one. That being said though, my ride was specifically built for mid-range TQ as all of my driving is in the mtns. I'm overseas so not looking at my dyno, but I do know I hit 400 rwt at 2800-2900 rpms, and it's a steady build up from there. A 40 mph start is a great 1st gear start speed for my ride, and I never leave my tq power going through gears. My biggest problem is traction, but as long as I can keep it from spinning - the tq and hp combo is hard to beat - especially when starting in the meat of the power.

That is definitely what I plan on doing this year. I will at least take the top spot by beating the 11.34. I saw you guys had a thread a while back about whether or not a bolt on manual LS2 could reach 10's. I will do all I can to get as close as possible but I do want to go heads/cam at some point, so it just depends on how long I can hold out.
Takes a cam and a fast and some lightening to do it I'm afraid. I tried a few years to do it with a cam without a fast and no go.
Of course I'm not the best driver but I dare say my statement above is dead accurate.

I only mention that for the guys who can't shift fast and then they complain that I have an advantage with my A6 compared to their M6.
The 10-100 closely equates to 1/8 mile and requires two shifts. That's three chances the manual has a likelyhood to lose traction with big HP & big cubes.
It's not so much about how much power as about the ability to use it quickly.
