Default C6 Rear Wheel Axle Assembly Failure

Has anyone had a rear axle bearing assembly breaking? The failure area is the part of aluminum casting where the tie rod connects.

I have never heard of that.

I was expecting it to be more costly...
The whole hub shipped is 200.00. The new bearing costs that.

Mine broke where the tie rod connects to the knuckle along the first bolt. I know there is a lot of you that autocross and do track time which would create a lot of stress on this area. I'm trying to find out if this is a weak spot and if any one else has experienced this failure.

I bought my car new in 2006 and have done several track days at Road America and The Autobahn in Joliet and have not had any issues. I did go look at mine since you raised the issue and all looks fine.

Yes, but not where yours broke. I have seen them brake the caliper bolt ears off. This is why any serious track car needs billet uprights. They have gotten allot cheaper price wise too, they used to be about 6k to get a set.
