Default Return of a legend: FAST 92 pics

I got in a surprise FAST to port for a C5 owner in Memphis. I had to port match to a Trick Flow 215. I always got more power from a fully prepped/ported 92 than a 102. In his case the 102 has issues on the C5 but when he told me it was a 92, I had to see a factory cast black one.

I know few would go with the 92 but now that FASTs are available in black, I though some would be interested in seeing how the FAST 92 looks today even if it was just a trip down memory lane. The C5 crew apparently hates the 102 so demand drew this back from the dead. I am turbocharging my Hummer so I need a FAST myself but I will stick with the non-truck 102 as the standard one will still make 800rwtq in my application.

Everytime I use the word application, my nephew tells me the 21 century word is 'app'.

The manifold appears to be the exact same casting from messy runners to the firewall hating bump on the back.

The front view with black molded body and red writing:

The rear bump:

The messy runners completely unchanged:

Hope everyone is doing great.

I painted about 120 of them.

Nice to hear from you Marc.

Don't forget to make sure the EVAP system port is actually drilled...mine wasn't and kept giving me a gas cap error code.

My SPINFAST 92 is still getting me to work every day and down the track once in a while. It is a great mod.

I checked all of them once you posted on it. There was a batch over a 30 day span that needed to be drilled but after that, none needed it.

My SpinFAST 92, painted black by Spin, was one of the best mods I employed prior to going FI. I placed it up for sale on this forum and it was gone in 4 hours.

It's almost as good as headers. It's that good on an ls2.

However I would buy a fast 102 for a ls2. Cutting and patching that bump on the back is a huge pain that is no longer necessary with the new design 102.

So, on a 06, is a Spin ported 92 or 102 better? I do have VR and Kooks with HF cats. ECS tuned.

102 no doubt. It fits without cutting and gluing in a splice. The splice was a source of problem due to the glue not holding up to the oil/gas fumes of the intake.

Thanks Joe, I just wanted to be sure I'm getting the most power. Last Dyno was 392/391 with VR, Kooks, HFCats 160*stat, ECS tune. Then went on Spins 102ported, retuned. But Doug had some knocks that he had to work out. He had to pull some timing. So, what do you think 4xxhp/tq? I do road course the car and fasted 1/4 mile was12.5 @118. X mph before fast 102. Run flats and2.05 60 ft. Re11 BRidgestone now, can I break 11.x?

Yes, without a cam figure on 15/15 I'd say. With a cam the FAST adds more.

You need drag radials. You can get in the 11's with street tires if you're a very practiced driver but it's hard. It's like ice skating in sneakers. Proper footgear makes all the difference.

So I need to be 120+ mph then. Which I think is possible.

I ran 11.8's all day @ 118 in my C5. Today I could run 11's at lower mPH.

Heck look at this run. I missed third and let off and still ran 12.0

Drag radials are the key.

$400 tow bill from track when mine fell out. Fixed by Spin 2 years ago and still holding.

Spin, first of all let me thank you for the outstanding job you did porting the FAST and TB as well as the quick turnaround. Not many people you call up out of the blue gives that kind of service, quality and effort.

I was able to complete this build last Sunday evening. On Monday evening I opened up HPTuners to set my injector flow data (42# injectors) and received the dreaded missing dll file running HPT on a windows 7 platform. Long story short fought this all week until yesterday HPT gave me the 2.23beta and solved my problems.

Yesterday evening I was able to set the flow data and crank the car and let it idle to operating temp while logging. Car cranked fine and idled through the temp ranges. This weekend I will begin street tuning so I can get it to the rollers in a week or so. A couple of the items we discussed exchanging phone calls, I’m seriously considering so the rollers could get delayed.

Again, very proud to have a spin ported FAST/TB sitting on top of those new TEA/Trickflow 215’s!

Steve
