That is just plain stupid. Image what they would say if you wanted to buy a car from them. Yeah, we don't have that one on the lot. Sorry, that'll be $34,000.

Local Chevrolet dealership
I called Gateway Chevrolet and explained that Thorobred Chevrolet sent me away because, according to them the clunking noise at acceleration was normal. the Gateway service advisor told me, "no this is not normal" and made an appointment. i drove about 100 miles to show the car to them, let their foreman drive it and he said "I am afraid that we won't be able to fix this". When we got back to the shop the service adviser wanted to charge me $ 70,- to further "diagnose the problem". When I told him that I had addressed this issue several times while the car was still under the bumper to bumper warranty (until 6/19) and that Van Chevrolet never fixed it, he told me to call CS. He also told me that the bumper to bumper warranty is not extended by the amount of time the car spends in shops. Other manufacturers take this into consideration: if a car spends 2 months of its 36 month warranty in shops, while it is being repaired, the warranty expires after 38 months because he can't use the vehicle during these 2 months.

I just cant believe some of these answers you get from dealerships these days.if I was you I would take it to a reputable well known high performance shop nearest you that only deals/work on corvettes.

I am under the impression that GM is advising the dealerships not to fix my car under warranty and to tell me that the noise is normal. If anybody knows an independent ("unauthorized") shop that works on Corvettes in the greater Phoenix area, please let me know. Thanks.

I have complained to different dealerships about a loud banging or clunking noise on my 2008 Corvette (automatic, Z51, 16,000 miles) at speeds around 15 mph. It appears like this noise gets louder when the car is hot, it sound like the noise from a trailer hitch at acceleration. It appears like this is something that can't be fixed, I have not even gotten an answer to where this noise is coming from. It looks like the only solution is to get rid of this car.
