Kill Switch?
I was talking to someone yesterday about putting a kill switch in his old car. I used to have them in my cars as an added theft deterrent, but haven't thought of one for our C6. Anyone install/use one?

I still need to do this to my Z, but it is kept in the garage and not left anywhere very often.

I would think the easiest way would be to run a relay on the main pump power line (back in the driver side fender well), and put the switch for the relay in the glove box or somewhere hard to find but relatively easy to get to. I did that on my last car and it worked great.

Good idea but wouldn't the horn blowing every time the power was re-established drive a guy nuts? - not to mention having to re-index your windows all the time as well?

Wiring to the PCM usually bypasses all the issues. I'm not going to make that statement as the rule for all makes\models though.

How do you steal a car that requires a specific radio signal from a fob, just to get inside? There are several electronic checks before even getting power to the starter. At least one of those checks is the fob signal.

if they can build a scanner thats reads your credit card in your wallet in your pocket then they can build a scanner thing to simulate your fob signal.
lo-jack is not a bad idea for this reason
yes cars are harder to steal now vs the 80's but not impossible by any means

Thieves just swap PCMs (with a "hacked" one) these days, there was a program on TV a little while back. Not sure if that method would work on a C6

It's easy to understand how a car can be stolen with a tow truck and then change controls or part it out.
If the dealers and/or locksmiths have no method to bypass or duplicate the fob signal, then Joe Blow car thief and certainly Joy Riding Jerry have no method either.
