Default Fast and 102mm TB gains...

Is it worth the $1450 + tune $ (so around $2k) for me to go to a fast 102, and NW 102mm TB?

Currently I have..untuned...LS2
-kooks 1 3/4" long tubes with cats
-ghl race exhaust
-haltech intake (v2 I believe?)
-ati harmonic balancer

I can fab up my own 102mm MAF housing...

So is it worth the $2k for the possible 25 horsepower I will gain? After that I most likely wouldn't Touch anything until I either fab up a twin turbo setup or stick with a cam and maybe heads and keep it simple...

I most likely won't race the car, I just have a terrible modding addiction and my last car was a 500whp pump has S2000...

I was going to put a novi 1500 on the car that I had, but I sold it Amd paid off the car instead. And I'm currently saving for a house sooo budget is tight, hence me being cheap and not springing for an all out NA build.

FAST 102 is worth it in my opinion. 102 TB not so much....with that being said I own a 102mm TB. I am like you in the fact I know I can't stop modding and so I just bought one when I did have the extra money cause I knew I eventually would anyway or I'd wish I had.

If you decide on a new TB, do a search on here for V-Max Motorsports. Pete Incaudo makes them and sells thru a couple other vendors. I run them on both my strokers...great TB's. The NW is marked up way too high IMO.

I'm not Finding anything by searching...price? Link?
I just thought the NW was the only DBW option for 102mm TB's...but I haven't searched very hard.

Or would there be more HP per $ gain with a small cam swap, a mild cam that doesn't require heads or new valve train at the time.

And labor wise doesn't matter for me, I'd be doing all the work so it would just be more time, no extra $ for install on a cam vs. intake/TB...

A good cam kit will be about the same $$ and be about 100 times more enjoyable...probably looking at 40-70whp depending on how extreme you go.

Fast is a great mod for an LS2, not so much for an LS3.

As the others replied, a cam/heads package is more value for hp. Add the TB/Fast later.

Just google "v-max motorsports" and call the number. The owner Pete Incaudo will answer. He is a cam/heads Master (does the testing for vette magazine and racers around the country). He did both of my stroker motors. The guy is a wealth of knowledge.

Hmm...I know both the cam and fast and TB would be ideal, as that's getting the most out of a cam only package, and from an old post I saw could yield almost 500whp...but that's with an aggressive cam and $4k or so all said and done. Then I go back to wanting the blower cuz I can fab up all my own piping, TIG weld a custom intercooler etc for less than that and it would make 550whp with ease.
Ahhh decisions!

Yeah, sorry I didn't read the post/replys too well. A "cam only" is still a great upgrade.
I am not up on the current price for Pete's TB's but they were a hair over $400 when I bought mine about 3 years ago. Last I heard, a guy I know paid about $600+ for the NW. They may be cheaper if you shop, but I can tell you Pete's are A-1.
I will try a search for the thread for you.

You should just change your rear gears to 3.42 and the car will really wake up.Then if its an automatic have the transmission tuned .

Why do you say this, the FAST 90 did wonders for the LS2, are you saying a FAST 102 doesn't produce similar gains on an LS3? I was/am not aware of this. I've hear the CAI (so to speak) on stock LS3 doesn't give up much to aftermakets CAIs as well. Any truth here?

No the LS3 intake / intake manifold from the factory is pretty darn good. If I had an LS3 I would just be doing a cam.

The LS2 intake / intake manifold suck from the factory and limit power gains.
