Default Had my A6 6L80E built

hey guys, Just had my A6 trans built for my STS turbo LS3. I just want to make sure they upgraded the correct parts/ upgraded them enough for my high HP goals. here is what they upgraded, from what i can read off the invoice that is:

Filter, Gaskets&seals, Raybestos stage 2 Red clutches, 300M intermediate shaft, another shaft & hub Im not sure what its called I cant read it but it starts with an R. Pro-torque convertor.

I hope this is enough info to get some feed back as too what was done to the trans, the invoice is all chicken scratch. Funny how the total is written very clear though

They told me they would have to wait till they opened the trans to see which parts needed upgrading.

A statement like that would have left me wondering if they had ever even opened up a 6L80e Trans.

I recently had my A6 tranny rebuilt by Century Transmission and installed and tuned by HorsePower Sales of Pompano,Fl. Before the rebuild I received a complete detailed list of all the parts that were to be replaced in this rebuild. If you go to Century's web site a list is available of what they typically replace.

I would've gone somewhere else for sure. Raybestos makes decent replacement brake pads, but I would not trust them as a performance clutch supplier.

If I lived on L.I. I would go to Vette Dr's for my tune. Or drive to Jersey to ECS or Cartech.

You guys crack me up, yeah Raybestos sucks... The OP sounds upset with the deal but never asked what they were going to replace after they pulled it apart. Soft parts wise it's usually the same on every trans, hard parts wise depends on what is torn up and what is available that is better, like the 300M shaft.

Reminds me of when I was racing GN's had a spare 2004r, sold it and the buyer wanted it inspected before he paid. He arranged to have a AAMCO builder pull it apart, first thing he noticed was stock clutches in 2nd gear, red in third, there was a reason for that they didn't know, red in 2nd caused shaft breakage, the stock cluthes acted as a fuse or buffer.

Call Freddy and ask him what he did to your tranny, they have been around a long time and I haven't heard anything bad about them.

thanks, and I heard very good things with the guys at FB and they couldnt be any nicer and helping. I am just checking to see if they possibly missed a part to upgrade that is a common part to do on this trans. this is the build pkg on Century transmissions site, It seems to be similar? Maybe someone with more experience can post.

Complete rebuild with all new gaskets, seals, rings & filter. New pistons & retainers where needed.

Alto 6L80 PowerPacks® in the 4/5/6 & 3/5/Rev clutch packs, this transmission's weakest links. Alto's state of the art Red Eagle® friction material incorporated with additional plates added to the clutch packs for a major increase in capacity!
Raybestos Stg 1 performance frictions in the 2-6 clutch pack. PowerPack® for the 2-6 coming soon.
Raybestos or B&W h/d frictions in the low/rev clutch pack & 1/2/3/4 pack.
Century Billet Intermediate Shaft (output carrier shaft-4/5/6 hub). Now that we've got the clutch packs holding better, the OEM powedered-metal shaft is twisting & breaking with increased H.P., the next weak link.
Century reinforced clutch hubs for increased reliability.
Wide inlet filter
Century's proprietary valve body ugrades.
Heat dissapating case coating.

I don't know how they are with 6L80s but as far as I know FB is one of the best around when it comes to Powerglides (and even TH350s/TH400s).
