anyone grinding second with thier grand sport?
i need to know if the 2011 grand sports grind second gear like the camaros , mustangs and challengers? i have a 2011 camaro ss and the tranny is notchy two click to get into second, i pulled tranny had it redone professionally by a guy name rick on this forum and upgraded to the zr1 twin disc clutch kits and it still grinds second. im pissed off i spent all this money for nothing. you cant even buy a new car today with a problem. im thinking about getting rid of camaro and getting a grand sport but all these cars use the same tranny. is it going to grind? or what? who ever designed that tranny is an idiot!!! my 2003 corvette slams second no problem everytime never grinds.

The TR6060 is notchy on the 1-2 and the 2-3 (to a lesser extent) when cold. Smooth as butter when warm.
I'm surprised you sent a new tranny, that should have been under warranty, out for a rebuild.

i sent it out bc rick is a experienced rebuilder and the dealer wouldnt have done the extra upgrades rick has done for me. plus if you read the post of other camaro owners the warranty repair or replacement of the trans hasnt worked they all still grind. I just dont know what to do now. i think the grand sport is out of my price range. doesnt matter if its completely warmed up or not its notchy into second from first and it always grinds above 4000 rpm unless i dog shift it. i even upgraded to the mgw shifter which is a very nicely made shifter and it doesnt help. im ready to just sell it and take my losses.

Mine is notchy until it is warmed up too. I Hate it with a passion!! My rule is to skip 2nd gear until I see the oil temp is up to 150. We really need a trans temp gauge!!

Try changing your clutch fluid. Unfortunately it gets dirty fast and causes shifting issues. Luckily it is is very easy to change using the Range method.

How many miles on your car? If you have higher mileage you might need replace your shifter bushings.
Tmod customs does this for $175. You should email them and discuss your issues and see if their solution might be good for your problem.

We replace the worn torque tube and shaft bushings with BEARINGS for a tighter, smoother shift than factory.

I've had three Vettes and an SS with this transmission. Two of the four I bought new. They all did it to some extent when cold. I'd worry about something else. It hurts nothing. These transmission are about bullet proof even behind higher than stock power inputs.
