Default Battery wont fit in right rear cubby hole

just took a quick glance and noticed there is a bulge in the right rear compartment that is taking up valuable space.

am i forced to get a smaller battery aka deka or braille?

or can i relocate whatever is taking up that space and jam that d35 optima in there!

id hate to have to get rid of this battery just because it practically brand new.

I noticed a lot of members using welding cable for relocating. The bad news is, welding cable is what it is intended for as welding cable. I don't know if you have check into the SGT, SGX or the Marine version.
Just curious....what's wrong with using welding cable?

From 2008 up there is a bulge in the rear passenger side compartment. That bulge is electronics for the On-star. And yes you could relocate it. I chose to use a Braille battery and not move the electronics.

Welding cable has more resistance. Marine grade cable is a good choice and is very flexable. Many people also use a good grade of speaker wire...I'm not sure how the electricity flows through this type of cable. I installed 4 guage marine grade cable in my car 4 years ago and have not had any probems. 1 guage wire is ideal but harder to snake through.

Anything thicker than 4 gauge is hard to work with.

i took out the cubby's liner and there was the Onstar VCIM, i disconnected the two antenna lines and the j1,j2,j3 but left the j4 connected as its the bus and if you disconnect it the bus can't loop back and the car wont start, you could disconnect it but you would have to jump wires. anyways, i unbolted the 3 10mm nuts and tucked it over to the right and the d35 optima fit right in.

p.s. here is a good thread i found: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...r-removal.html

We expierenced this with a customers car too, we've found that a Mazda Miata batter fits nicely in there. And since the miata batteries were mounted "in cab" they are already vented properly.
