Default Mix tires?

At 5700 miles, the OEM Goodyears rears are starting to show cord. I wanted to go to Bridgestone Potenza's but the front oem Goodyears have at least 80% tread left. SO, wondering if it's ok to mix tires or am I asking for trouble? BTW, I just bought this car two weeks ago, and know nothing about Corvettes, especially the Z06.

Thanks in advance for feedback/advice....

The handling characteristics of the two makes of tires are probably different. How much is hard to tell. Some drivers may not be bothered by this because they aren't driving all that hard at any time or they are just tuned into their car enough so they can work around the differences. Other drivers with that combo may be an accident looking for some place to happen.

I dont want to be responsible for givin you any bad advise, but for me I was in the same situation with the oem tires. I had good thread up from and need rears. I bought non run flats for the back and keep run flats up front. I have no problems whatsoever.

I have mixed tires on my C4 and C5 before. I know a lot of people who have. No issues unless your trying to track the car - then you might want to consider 4 new ones and sell the 2 fronts that are good.

I would have the alignment checked as well. Althought I assume the original owner was drag racing and burning up the rears. How are you going to be using the car. As a daily driver/cruiser or a race car? If a daily driver/cruiser - have them set the alignment more flat like a regular car and you will get a lot more life from the tires. Yes, you will loose the 1+g skid pad capability but do you ever really need that or use it if your just cruising around with the car.

I have GY on front and Michelin on rear. It's fine no problems. I am looking forward to the fronts wearing out so I can get the Michelin's on the front too.

I don't think my front tires have matched my rears for 40k of the 60k miles of my cars life, and I've had several different tires from stock, Khumo, Michellin, Nitto and Hankook

For some reason my front Goodyear SuperCars only lasted 25k miles, but the rears lasted 45k. So for 20k miles I had the SuperCars in the rears and non-runflat firestone's in the front.

I would not do it, esp. runflats and non-runflats.

I currently have Toyo T1Rs on the front and R888s on the back. I've had no problems.
