I'm not saying the car didn't run the times but whenever I spot things that don't appear right it cast doubt on anything connected.

This is not meant as an attack just trying to understand things. I haven't run a car on the track for a number of years so not up to date on everything.

I know dyno's now make adjustments, wasn't sure if tracks weren't doing the same thing.

It's all good! I hadn't connected that the dyno corrects for weather, it surely does, but the track doesn't. But it was a good question.

Default WoW!..

....so I'm there on this 50's temp night with Joe G., and Ally.
We're standing right behind the starting line, and Mike rolls up in his "Quiet Riot" Yellow Vette with sticky tires.
Does a quiet burnout with his no P/A beauty.
Lines up, and Bam! an 11.001, then an 11.01 and finally a 10.98 to gain admission to the "10 Second Lounge!

Must be the skinny's you added to the front Mike, no?.....

Well, between Mike's "Quiet Riot" yellow C6, and our extremely well versed and resident "Mad Scientist" Joe G. in his LS2 dd Stick Ragtop,
as Bartender I welcome you to the "Joe G. 10 Second Lounge" where there are no Power Adders, all are daily driver's, and there is never a cover charge!...Just show your 10 second slip at the door....

^^

Rick your gift for prose is meritorious...always a good read.

Was great to see you and your son in law last night. A fun time for sure.

I've got our other resident Videographer, Retrotech, producing a video worthy of Theofel's accomplishment.

Meanwhile, I'll tease you with this one..

What a heart breaker! Traction was actually better on this run than the record run.

Congrats Mike, it's never easy to achieve but you finally got that 10.

Oh man, you HAD TO go back and try after that, there's NO WAY you can go home and actually be able to sleep that night with an 11.001 time slip LOL.
An 11.04 is one thing, that's far enough away to deal with/handle it but an 11.00 is just one more pass away from a 10, almost every time.

That is somewhat debatable, he did hit a notably better 1.53 earlier and yet it was still slightly slower on the big end. I've experienced the same exact thing, my best ET did not come from my best sixty foot, I think it's a weird torque management thing inherent within the A6 trans or something.
If he suddenly busted out a 1.4x or something (easier said than done) then I'm sure the ET would improve as well but his 1.55 versus his 1.53 didn't reflect that, on this particular night at least.
Great passes either way though.

Not my best 60' but good enough to get me that 10 second slip. The slip will be posted up shortly by Joe G along with a video of that record run. I would like to thank everyone for there support and racing tips. Especially Joe G and Dennis.
WOW!!! Those are some good times man. That negative DA really helps. Did you notice a difference when you started using the skinnies?

Great passes either way though.

The last pass was an hour later - the temp had dropped a few degrees but the humidity was high so the track was going away. Theofel ran 11.05, spinning, then hot lapped the 10.98 run, with a little spin off the line and on the 1-2, as you can hear in the video.

Theofel could drop a little off his time if he had the perfect conditions and no wheelspin.

I'll go ahead and post the 10 second run so you can hear what I'm talking about. Retrotech will make a more pleasurable video that I'll post up later.

Was sure nice to mark another off the list...Dicky and Txr are next! We have maybe 4 more weeks of this weather if we're lucky.

We need to get all the Horsepower Sales customers in the 10's with their daily drivers!

I dropped .2 with pretty equal weather conditions from the skinnies and total lightening of about 85 lbs from 3250 to 3165.

Great run and, I suspect, a lot of great work to get there!

You should update your profile. It still has your old, "slow" 11.04 as your best time.

The skinnies and the shorter 17 inch DR's made about .1 difference. I still have the 2 inch front spacers in and they weigh about 4.5 pounds each. Tried to remove them but then the GTO rims hit my Z51 calipers. Maybe a little modification to the calipers are next.

Wow. It seems that the only C6s (non Zs) in the 10s with just bolt-ons are automatics. Those stalls do wonders. Everyone has to rethink the auto vs manual debate now. ...at least as far as drag racing is concerned.

Congrats!

275/40/17" Hoosiers by any chance?

Did you also happen to scan any of your passes?

315/35/17 Hoosier's. They hook like nobodys business. Remember Theofel has the widebody.

Darn it, no scans and that is my fault. I had my cord but not my computer. I'll bring it next time.

A well driven stick car will keep up with or surpass an auto.

Use base rotors on both front and rear. No problem with clearance and they weigh a total of 15# less. That, plus those spacers is another 24# and will drop about .03 off the ET.
