Rear Rotors + Hawk HPS Pads - Not covering all of the surface area?
So, I just got the Centric rotors from TPS motorsports, but the Hawk HPS pads only seem to cover about 60% or 70% of the surface area from edge to edge on the rear rotor.
Is this normal? Pad specific? Maybe the wrong rear pads?
Also, any idea how long until Hawk HPS pads bed?
Pix to follow. Couldn't find any searching..

The pads don't bed themselves. You have to follow Hawk's recommended specific procedure. Go to their website, to the HPS section and somewhere near the bottom of the page is their link to the proper bedding procedure.

Well, I'm pretty sure the mechanic did this:
1. After installing new brake pads, make 6-10 stops from approximately 30-35 mph applying moderate pressure.
2. Make an additional 2-3 hard stops from approximately 40-45 mph.
3. DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!
4. Allow 15 minutes for brake system to cool down.
5. After step 4 your new pads are ready for use.
They sure don't seem to bite as well as whatever I had in before either. I'm a little concerned. We'll see I guess.

Okay, well the picture you posted of the rear rotor looks normal to me......looks just like all stock rear rotor contact areas I've seen. Hope that helps your peace of mind.
I'll also say from that picture I don't see any indication that the brakes were bedded. Even though you believe your mechanic did it.....just for more peace of mind you might want to do it yourself. Just sayin'.

I figured on the bedding. They seem much better now that I've driven them a bit.
