Default Paddle Shifters

I have an automatic 2005 Z-51 and I want it to have more of a manual feel, so I want to add paddle shifters. Is it even possible to add them if my v3tte didn’t come with them stock? If it is possible about how much would it cost, would the dealer be able to do this or would I have to install it myself? Please let me know. (getting a manual at this time is not an option)

Thank you
V3tte

I would think that trying to retrofit the 2006 and up paddles to a 2005 car, though possible, might be a bit cost prohibitive, especially from the dealership.

Here's one possible option though:

If you do end up with paddles, don't expect it to shift like a M6. They shift really slow until you get a tranny tune.

I think a manual swap would be easier than trying to retrofit paddles to a non-paddle shift car.

the link that LT1LS1 http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Shifters/paddle/
gave costs about $600 and the way they explain it, it doesnt seem to complicated(but I could be wrong). Would I have to buy a manual tans. or would the dealership have one?

I believe the the Paddle Shift is made form the A6 trans which wasn't available in the 05, you might have to completely change tranmissions.

Could this actually work? It seems it would be something I would install. Are you familiar with this part?

Sorry to be pessimistic, but I doubt that you'll be satisfied after modifying the transmission. I am a high performance driving instructor so I have the opportunity to ride in all types of cars. I haven't seen an automatic Vette shift right yet (on a roadcourse.) The newer paddle shifters are differrent than the older ones, but still nowhere near a tiptronic.
Enjoy what you have and get a manual next time.
