Default Can I start car with open headers?

I have had the car on jack stands for about a week and want to start it to keep battery from dying as happens on C6 if you dont start regularly. I am waiting on exhaust stuff so need to start the car with open factory headers/cats. Will this jack anything up or will all be alright?

I have done this on Mustangs, BMW's and Hondas with no prob. I have not done it on the vette though. Im gonna have to in the near future though. Im thinking the worst thing that could happen is engine check in some cases.

Get a trickle charger if you are worried about something happening. Only a few bucks. You have to run it for a while to recharge the battery. Your neighbors will thank you.

I started my '05 coupe last Thursday for the first time in about 3 weeks and had no problem.

You might want to warn your neighbors...

Good luck...

Warn for sure...haha....I started mine before i hooked up my exhaust just to get a little taste...and aside from being smoked out of the garage from the coating on the inside of the headers...it was LOUD.

When we changed the clutch on my ZR-1, there was no way the exhaust was going on before we got to hear that beast with open exhaust....and it was definitely worth it.

When I had my exhaust off on my C5, I started it up and reved the engine a little bit. It did not hurt anything and sounded awesome! I would not recommend driving around with it this way though.

Default Battery tender

I started mine with Heads & Cam and it was extremely loud. I drove it a few miles for two days with no problems, prior to installing the mufflers. l loved it at first, but after a while it can make you go deaf. If you don't try it, you might regret it. You should still use a battery tender suggested by Mez. I use one all year to keep the battery fully charge. Let us know if you try it, and how it sounds.
