Default Can I use an '08 LS3 throttlebody on my '09 LS3?

What is the difference between the 2 LS3 throttlebody's?

There was one for '08 cars and another for '09 cars... Can they be interchanged?

I know '09 had the different ECU, so I just want to make sure that if I swap mine out for a core having it ported, the new one will work if it's the 'other' kind.

The part numbers are listed different after 2008 model year. Previously the LS2,LS3 and LS7 all used the 12570790 TB, but now they have switched to a 12605109 for the 2009 and up models.

the 09 throttle body opens in the oposite direction to the 08 and below. I put an 09 on my 08 and it was okay at WOT, but on engine braking and costing TPS freaked out.

My 08 freaked out at WOT on the dyno. Sent all sorts of crazy codes and then went into limp mode. Thought the engine blew up. Was just the TB. Put the stocker back on and it was fine...

I ran one on my 99 and it only showed 97% from the TPS at WOT, anybody else seen less than 100%?

The 09, or at least whatever one I was told was an 09, was a heck of a better design. It is basically a ported and faster opening throttle body from what I could tell. Now if only I could run the damn thing lol

Because the 09 opens differntly the air flowing around it changes and will whistle like crazy with an aftermarket intake, but with the 08 no whistle.

So from what I see here the 08 thrittle body just won't work on the 09 car. I had the Linkenfelter pulled and changed back to stock because the whistle made the car sound like something was wrong with the motor and the whisle would drive you crazy after a while.

Anyone know if there is a fix or a computer code fix so we can use an 08 throttle body?

Using the interceptor even on different vehicles, I can see that the throttle at WOT is never 100%. I read the reasoning somewhere, but now I forget.

you didnt throw any codes with the 09?

I put a '10 on my 2003 zo6, and it keeps throwing p1515 or p1516 (basically the TAC module and PCM not agreeing w/ TPS).

Going to try switching to a '05-'08 to see if that solves it.

(mostly happens at WOT, and yes, I also get 97% at WOT)

I did the same thing on my LS3 transplanted 2000. Could barely start and wouldn't hold an idle even w/ changes in the tune. Put in an 05-08, basically same as an LS2, no more problem.

Default Idle speed problem

Hi,

I have ´08 LS3 crate and TPS broke, so I have to order new throttlebody.
I did order 12570790, but in the packet was new model TB ?
Now my problem is, that idle speed is about 1500 rpm. Otherwise engine works fine and all the power is in there.
I can chance that idle speed parameters to the ECU whit my friends Efi Live, but I need to know them. Where I can get them ?
