Default So this idiot I know bought a C6 flood car...

First I will admit the Idiot is me.2005 Daytona Sunset Orange with Z51, Nav and etc. I go and pick the car up in about 12 hours from now. I will post what has been done already and ask what is next? Car runs and drives already, all the filters and fluids have been changed.Starts and drives perfect, New body control module installed, carpets cleaned and etc. The problems still: 80 mph max speed, windows won't roll up or down, AC/heat control is dead, have to use the emergeny pull to open the door, Check engine light is on and etc. I will scan the car and see what modules are not responding/talking.... What else? Where can I find used electronics?

Yes I bought the car very, very cheap.

It sounds like the BCM isn't working all the way yet. How flooded was it? There are serial interface buss connections near the BCM and also on the driver's side footwell that need to be making connections properly. SCM connections under the driver's seat, more stuff under the passenger seat and so on. Frankly, there is a whole host of possibilities. You will be looking for multiple failures, not just one fix for all. I suggest starting with one system and work your way through it till its resolved, then move onto the next. First things first, you'll need a code reader.

I agree on the code reader. My friend owns a shop and was going to scan it and find a place to start. It had water up to the AC controller. The Nav/Radio comes on. However, it wont play because the amp is fried. The HUD works, The Cluster works and etc. So somewhere to that point.... I want to get the AC controller changed, a new AMP and get the 80 mph max gone. I need to find a service manual for it so I can track each system and see what it does what. some of the work will be unplug, clean, diolectric grease and plug back in. I'm just not sure how many modules are involved!

I have owned cars worse than this one. Yes they usually drive me crazy until I figure them out. However, I have become a really good trouble shooter on C5s and F Bodies. C6 is new to me...I'm lucky because I have all of you to help me learn!

The old addage applies: "How do you eat an Elephant"? one bite at a time.

You may be suprised at how much an a/c controller and amp may straighten out. So many systems rely on one another.

As far as a manual. If your into torrents there is a copy of GM eSI available. It goes to '05. Don't ask me how to get it. You can do a search in the General section (or Google) and if the post is still listed it will tell you.

Good Luck! and wait, get ready for it,... All the haters will be chimming in.

Salt water or fresh water flooding? I'd be checking all of the connections for corrosion.

Gotta ask...Katrina car? It IS an '05, and you're down here in the area that got the most flooded with flood cars(pun intended. ) I'd have the chassis checked though as it's a steel frame...ESPECIALLY if it was salt water. The electrical system could be the least of your worries.

That's okay though, as long as you're happy. Don't worry, some morons here have even bought the Hertz Edition C6.

I'm surprised they haven't already. However, my first Corvette was a 1964 droptop I rebuilt...no one ever complained about that one.
So I say bring it on.

Atlanta flood..all fresh water. Water is water. However, I am thrilled it wasn't salt water.
About the ZHZ cars.... In a few years, who knows they could be worth something....... I passed on one for $28,500.

ecm gotta be toast and more then likely the windows wont work as well as other electric stuff like the rear popper and maybe doors. Those items need torn apart and usually can be fixed except the ECM will need swapped out. If it hasnt been run i would take the plugs out and turn over by hand just in case it was being driven into water. Ask me how i know these things,,,,,,,,or better yet dont. Its an old wound

True, unfortunately.
But if the car was really that cheap (as in, $15k or less) then it could still turn out to be a good move.

Picked the car up this afternoon and was very happy with the purchase. Surprised and pleased. I will have some pain issues, just not as many as I thought I would.

I think I would start with the lowest items first as you've said you've already the BCM. The SCM and whatever are in or under the seats.
