Default transmission Overhaul Kit required

Good morning,
The story starts 6 month back. I was driving my car to work on the highway around 1 hour driving. When I reach work I stopped the car and arranging my things. Luckily I got in-door parking where the problem started. The 1'st gear can’t be engaged i use 2'nd gear to park the car. From that date i did not get any problem with the car even in the hard accelerating and racing. Last week the problem appears. The first gear can’t be engaged and also the reverse gear can't be engaged unless i keep holding the gear.
And the mechanical guy said i will need to have Master Overhaul Kit.

Could any one advice where can i get this kit.
The users who have the same problem there feed back i highly appreciated

I presume this is for a six speed manual transmission. But regardless you may want to contact forum vendors, like Gene Culley at GMParts House or Bob at Fichtner Chev. Good luck.

Thegearbox.org is who I just used. They stock every part needed for a T-56 overhaul, including a specific Master Overhaul Kit, which is around $500 USD. Shipping was quite fast from their business in Michigan, to my residence in England. Took less than a week via Express Mail.

I first attempted to go through forum vendors here to support CF, but none of the big transmission places actually sell parts or kits. They'll only request you ship them your transmission for them to rebuild/upgrade. This isn't cost effective for you or I given that we live overseas.

In addition, I would advise you to have your transmission specialist tear down your transmission first to properly diagnose what the issue is. There are parts that could be worn or broken that are not included in an overhaul kit. This was the case with my transmission. Luckily, I ordered everything I needed and got the tranny back together right the first time.

It went back in the car just a few hours ago, and all is well.

Slickshoes, that sounds like very good advice from someone who's been there, and very recently.

Thankyou, Sir. I do regret not being able to refer him to a forum vendor, as I go out of my way to support the Vette community. But I simply wasn't able to locate what I needed via any of those little colorful tabs at the left of the screen.

Also, Aseer, if you are attempting to remove the transmission yourself and need any advice, feel free to PM me.

What is the year of your vette? If you want Master overhaul kit for 6L80E you can find ;

But be aware; Master overhaul kits are only includes all gaskets, o-rings, seals, sealing rings, friction plates, & steel plates.You have to buy the pressure plates from a dealer.And don't forget to use Dexron 6 Transmission fluid for your transmission..Good luck because you need it...

Before you go down the road of a tranny rebuild have you eliminated the shifter being the issue? On occasion the shifter base plate bolts will loosen slightly throwing the shifter out of position...and since your problem is 1st and reverse both are in the 'up' throw position...might want to check this first
