Long story short - meth makes air into the engine colder 30 F colder air = more dense. More dense air senses by the MAF and IAT sensor will spray more fuel to compensate for a given AFR. More air and more fuel = more power this is not tune compensated so if meth goes away, no chance for motor damage.
Does that help at all?

You should just run high meth content WW fluid so little changes in life. A tank should last a few months.

This is great info. I've been looking for a new project but I've exhausted all the inexpensive power mods. I'll have to research some of the kits for a clean hassle-free install. Plus read the rest of this thread.
Thanks

So how many people in this thread have installed a meth kit. I'm still interested in putting this on my H/C LS2 and would like to hear from a few more people. Based on the recommendation from Spin and several other members, Alky would be the brand I'd go with. But all the feedback is from boosted builds. I know there are N/A guys using this kit. Any regrets or issues now that you've had it for awhile? Was it worth it? I still have to see who can do the tuning for me. ECS said they haven't done N/A installs before and I haven't heard back from Cartek yet. I'm dragging my feet on this and looking for that last bit of feedback to shove me into a purchase.
Thanks

Hi SpinMonster. It's been a while since the beginning of thread. I have sat and read the entire thread tonight and think for the little cost, if I can "not loose" power due to
1: Air Temps pulling timing.
2: pinging/knocking due to octane rating therefor pulling timing
then why not right?
What has changed during the beginning. Are they easier to set up? My LS7 uses a IAT/MAF combo sensor if i am correct. the meth nozzle would be set where roughly?. I am using a Halltech MF108 where is puts the MAF about 1ft closer to the filter right it teh rad support. Are the ECS kits still the one to buy. I have also seen Snow Performance. I have emailed ECS about 3 days ago, awaiting answers from them . Still in the research phase for me, but it doesn't seem to have any cons at all.
Thanks

I'm out of the game for a while but I'd check with ECS if not AlkyControl in FL for the Meth system.

Spin. great to see you again after all this time.
You will appreciate Rpmxtra grabbing the how to torch from you.
Check out this how to thread. He just needs to come up with a catchy name like Rpmmonster for his threads. lol

I was looking into the meth, but there is not enough concrete data. I'd love before and after dyno runs without tune, and then with. If race fuel at best gives 9-12rwhp, then running meth in a N/A car would get that with a tune, but if ever the system failed, you'd become a ping machine with way too much timing....just doesn't seem worth it for N/A at the moment. FI cars however totally different story

But your point on actual gains on a NA build is valid imho, I've never seen any NA guys use it, I am afraid the gains aren't enough to be worth the expense.

I haven't read this in a while but I think the way spin does it, the timing is added by the IAT timing table when the IAT goes cold due to the meth...so if there is no meth there is no extra timing. No ping machine.

The answer really has to do with compression, available fuel octane, and timing.
If the engine has higher compression and you have to retard timing so it doesnt ping itself to death, then a meth kit will offer a good HP benefit.
If the engine runs optimally given the octane it has, then no dont do it.
So the question is if higher octane fuel will generate a benefit or not.. and there is your answer really

You'd have to build an engine that requires high octane to achieve its numbers to begin with then run pump gas + meth and then get the benefits.
Such as the 454 lsx r which is rated at 720hp but unfortunately requires 110 octane. You could get away with pump + meth but I feel like that would be a pain. Our cars depend on so much already to have another system required for proper function seems rather unappealing.
Again in a FI car it's a whole other topic.

Am I the only N/A car running Meth?
I don’t know the HP gain for Meth. When I added Meth I also added ported stock intake and NW 102. The gains for those three mods were 37 RWHP. Which mod added the HP, don’t know it was the combination. The heads are stock ported 11.56 compression so I run 93 pump gas. The car does 10.12 in the ¼ mile and puts down 522 RWHP. Scans show no knock and the Meth kicks in at 4,000 RPM. The Meth last a long time, spraying small nozzle. Running Meth no mixture so the tuner can tune the car consistently. The goal is to put in the 9’s in the ¼ mile.
Julio you should recognize this pump.

^^^ Great setup BSP...the g6x3 and 4000 stall is the Mack Daddy setup. That the proven formula for a top performer.
AndrewDSP has had the ls2 manual top of the list for years with that setup (less the 4k stall of course, plus trickflow heads).
With all your mods I think meth was the next step. But as you know the further you climb to the mod tree the results per mod start to diminish incrementally.
Nice setup you have. Julio is the man when it comes to Meth without a doubt.

I've got meth on my N/A LS2
Works wonders if you build the car for it. It does add another dimension of complexity, but I would say 530 rwhp is worth it

I'm going to read through this thread thoroughly tonight, but in the meantime has anyone done this recently? Last post was 5 years ago, I'm guessing there have been some improvements since then. I have a Snow stage 3 kit left over from my last car, I figured if I can install it in my Z06 for some extra power, why not?! My LS7 in N/A, has cam, head work, intake, exhaust, tune. I'll update when I get around to doing this and add any new information I find along the way.
