16" Wheels
Need help fast. What rear brake change do I need to make so my 2006 Z51 will accept 16" wheels? I've been told that I only need to change the Z51 caliber mounting bracket to the std. one. Is this correct?

WOW! Who told you that? If you installed a standard caliper bracket on a Z51 rotor, you wouldn't even be able to reinstall your caliper because it would locate the caliper to low onto the rotor. The OD of the Z51 rotor is about an inch more than the standard rotor.

you would need the c5 or standard rotor

As far as I can tell, only a set of totally custom made/specifically measured 16" rims (CCW, Bogart, Holeshot etc.) can be made to fit over a C6's brakes.

Most 16" wheels still won't fit over the base (aka: non Z51/non F55) either so even switching out the entire assembly likely won't help.

I just received wheels & tires from John. The tires are Hoosier 28x14.2x16 Quicktime Pros. I'll purchase std. calibers & rotors tomorrow to replace my Z51 items. He assumed I had std. brakes. My new running gear will be an LSX 440" with an 88mm turbo, 4L80E trans, and a RPM Z06 3.42 rear. We expect to run @ Fayetteville, N.C. on 11-07-2009.
Thanks guys for your advice.

San, your picture does not show the caliper brackets.
Here they are. Large ones are front and small ones are rear:
Here's a rear rotor as it fits inside the caliper bracket.
Here's how the caliper flips up off the rotor during a pad change. Look close and you'll see the bracket.
Note how the bracket bolts to the spindle and the caliper bolts to the bracket. FYI this is called a "floating" caliper.
These are non Z51 rotors and calipers.

The other pics are parts off a non Z51 C6.
