"In honor of jpee"
would this normally drop into the oil pan and not be picked up by the oil filter?

About $6 I think.
I thought my 2009 didn't have one, but when I ordered one from Zip with some other stuff, the plug was identical to the one in the car. Identical in every way, including writing on it and the way it didn't seem to stick to anything metal in the garage...

If you paid for a magnetic plug tell Zip to send you what you paid for. GM does not make the magnetic plugs anymore unless they recently started again. You need to get an aftermarket plug to get a magnet.

It needs to have iron in it for the magnetic to be attracked to it. Not just metal...
