Nissan 370z vs 2008 Coupe
Well, now the Nissan is coming out for the competition, they say it is as fast as the coupe. 0-60 in the high 4's
Any comments on who is faster?

Yeah no vette should be worried about the 370Z, they are mid-low 13 sec cars on the average. They will handle well though. Any C6 w/Z51 should still outperform one on the twistys.

Car & Driver wrote the 370Z show take the Porche Turbo around the corners. I could not find the time spec on the Z. The Z06 would be the turbos match.
That's pretty good for $29K base car.

I serously doubt that there even doing 0-60 in the fours. I own a 350Z (300hp model), and it's not comparable to the vette. I haven't driven the 370, but a don't think the 30 extra hp will make that much of a difference. The Z's fun to drive around corners, but you just don't feel it when you mash the gas.

The 370 is not out handling a Porsche Turbo (at least not any current Porsche) I also doubt it's capable of consistant high 4s to 60mph. Regardless though an LS3 C6 is capable of 4.1-4.3 0-60 times. I don't think you'll have to worry too much. Car mags typicaly like to overhype new models.

The vette is just an awesome machine and some deep discounts can be had....throw in the aftermarket parts and the Vette IMHO "wins" but they are both great cars..kudos to Nissan

the Car and Driver review of the new 370Z was ridiculous. They couldn't say enough good things about the car. Apparently, it's quite impressive. Pulled .97g!!
I wouldnt worry about one from a streetlight or on the freeway, but if you find yourself at a circle track against one, don't sleep on it!

*maybe* in tight stuff due to the shorter wheelbase, but anywhere else, I'd take the better weight distribution and lower cg of the 'vette

I like what they have done with the 370. but with C6's selling for around $40k, the choice is obvious for most.
In a normal market, the Nissan is $10k-$15K cheaper. It is also worth noting that you will never see the mythical $29k base model.
still, at $33k or so, it's not a bad ride to have and the dealers here in San Diego aren't price gouging.

A colleague of mine has a new 370. I've ridden in it and it's a great car. It's pretty noisy and pretty stiff riding. I like it, but you can't hear the engine/exhaust at all. For me, I've got to have all the things that come with an American V8 . That fact that my C6 with Z51 rides more comfortably is a plus.

The vette has nothing to worry about. More than likely would just be a waste of gas. Considering that the handling capability of the Z51 are greater than most corvette owners driving skills. I would think the 370Z would be something for mustang and camaro guys to worry about.
