Default Ported Throttlebody

I'm interested in hearing experiences anyone has had with installation of a ported throttlebody. Is it worth the expense without also porting the intake? i.e. bang for the buck? Also, since many vendors offer them, any recommendations for a specific vendor?

I just recently had my TB and intake ported. The biggest difference is Throttle response. also depends on who does the porting. It is important to be experianced when doing a port job. I had the TB and intake done for $350 and recived roughly 13 extra horses. (TB was like 3 or 4 and Intake 9-10) worth it to me.

Yes they are worth it and they are all about the same. I have a Jantzer.

I had Cory Harris at LS2 Portworks port my TB and Intake Manifold before I got the Supercharger; there gains are not huge, but it is an inexpensive modification involving very little hassle and work, it looks completely stock and it does make a difference, so for me it was well worth it. You can expect to gain maybe 8-15WHP for doing both, with an improvement in throttle response as well.
LS2 Portworks is a vendor on this forum too

VMax ported TB exchange through Norris Motorsports. Quicker throttle response, a few more hp, easy install & I’m getting about 1mpg better fuel mileage.

Pete Incaudo of Vmax Motorsports is one of the best. As was said the throttle response will be instant and it will make it feel as though you gained a ton of horsepower. Well worth the money and an easy install.

I've got one, and I noticed a difference. For $150, and ease of install, it's worth it.

Is a tune necessary with just a ported TB?

No, just remember to disconnect the battery during install

My car was tuned before I added the VMAX but for safety I took itback to the tuner after I installed it and he checked it out and determined that he did not need to modify the tune for the VMAX. Now, if you run close to the edge with your tune it may need to be retuned but I had a nice "safe" tune so I was fine.

Cory does good work, and the install, following his detailed instructions, made it a doable mod even for me.
