Trying to enhance stock LS3
Anybody have some good knowledge on intake/ exhaust mods to get more power?? I dont want to do any internal stuff, just intake and exhaust... Should I go with a hand-held re-prog or pay somebody to dyno after I make mods?? What mods have you guys tried that gave great results?
It screams now, but you know how it is, more power is always good, plus I can tell her it is all in the sake of better mpg! any knowledge would be greatly appreciated!!!! A co-worker has a 2001 5.7 and told me he added some new SP wires that gave a noticeable diff? I am going to look through the threads here, you guys seem to know your stuff....

Manual or Auto? I have MN6, went from 396hp/383tq to 424/418 with just a set of AR headers w/cats and dyno tune, through stock exhaust catback and stock air filter. Later added K&N CAI with Vette-Air/Beehive.
The car runs really well with no side effects, well except the rear tires would probably lodge a protest..

It's a 6 speed manual, and unfortunately I live in the "Peoples republic of California" They have some different smog laws here. In the old days I would take another car in and have my buddy hook it up to the machine and get my cert. Now I dont think I can do that.
Dont think they will be able to see headers unless they lift it...

You could always investigate using a set of LS7 manifolds, cats and xpipe. I remember a post on here here they got 20hp from doing that. There are a couple of sets on the for sale forum now..

Ummm, i think a Chuck CoW tune is just the thing for you.
Check with the guys in Canada (Toronto area), and in California (Corona), Chuck tuned their cars and most of them had to go for inspections and passed with flying colors. The tune he does not only enhances the car performance but it corrects the air/fuel ratio so it will burn the fuel more efficiently.
Nobody ever had problems with the inspection after his tune.
Are you still using the stock CATS or did you change them with the aftermarket ones?

I would give Chuck a call. He really knows his stuff. It will only take a few minutes of your time and who knows, you might get to learn something new about your car.
Here is his number 914-332-0049 and he is available pretty much anytime, in fact i am willing to bet you will find him if you call now

Do a CAI/Halltech/KN whatever, ported TB & a tune (though a tune might void the warranty) & be happy. If that's not enough, get a supercharger that's 50 state OE Cert & be done with it.

if you know a Smog guy, go ahead with the Longtubes, but be sure not to completely get rid of the cats. With hi-flo ones, you should still be able to pass the sniffer, and your friend won't fail you on the visual for the headers. I don't think you gain more than a few hp from completley scrapping the cats anyway. Hi-flo ones work really well.
This is what I always did on my mustangs, anyway.

One forum member went into the 11's at 117 mph with this set up. Seems to be about the same as aftermarket headers.

How does 12.11 @ 115 mph sound for a "STOCK (2005) LS2 A4 with only a Vararam, & Cartek tune sound?
I ran those # twice + 12.13 @ 114 mph.... I plan on 11's without going into the engine! & I'm sure Cartek will get me there... Just a converter should get me to 11.8's

Sounds like you ran at ATCO. Nice either way though.
