Mods that will get about 50 horses
I just bought a new C6 and was wondering if catback, chip, and intake upgrade would bump my ride up about 50 horses?

The short and simple answer is NO. What year is your car? Auto? Manual? If you get long tube headers, CAI, and a good dyno tune, you will get about 40 RWHP SAE. Cat backs add a nicer sound and tips, but the power gains are very small.
By your post, it seems like you used to own an 03 - 04 Cobra?

Like he said catback on these cars give you nothing but sound no power to be had and these cars you dont need to buy a chip its tuned right to the computer. If its an LS3 like mine i pick up 50rwhp with KOOks LTs, vararam intake, and a tune

You're '08 will really be woken up with the standard bolt ons. These include a CAI, headers, and a tune (160' stat too). This will put you well over 400rwhp (auto/manual decides how much) and it will be very quick without losing it's good stock driving manners. Don't look for a specific rwhp number. That's just a quick way to disappoint yourself. Just know that your car will be substantially quicker afterwards.

Most get around 30hp from headers/tune on the LS3. CAI are around 10hp or so, depending on if you get cold air to it or not. Throw a ported throttle body in the the mix (5-10hp,depends on who you talk to) and you will be close to +50..The catback is only good for +5, maybe. GM says +6 with NPP which is pretty much straight through..

The LS3 is pretty sensitive to airflow, timing and AF ratio. I would go with a dyno tune over a canned tune, simply because the tuner (if reputable) will optimize the tune for your car, and mods. Being in the Bay area there should be several. I have heard of Synergy Motorsports (forum vendor) mentioned several times with good feedback. Might want to give them a call, tell them your goals. It is often good to have a plan in place of future goals and the mods required to get there. That way you are not redoing/undoing what you have already done.

I added Kooks long tubes, high flow cats, Corsa sport exhaust and BPP Vortex CAI to my 2006 C6 Vert. Had Corvette Connection Street and Dyno tune for the added components gaining 40 hp at 365 RWHP. Next I plan on adding a ported TB and Intake (FAST or Weiand). If I'm still looking for more after the intake I will be going FI.

How about nitrous? A complete system would be equal to, if not cheaper than a set of headers. And instead of just 50 horsepower, you'll get an extra 150-200...
I think you could buy a complete wet kit for $1000.

The basic bolt on mods mentioned here will net you a pretty decent gain. However, I think you will be a bit short of a 50 RWHP addition from bolt on mods alone. I think you will need a small camshaft as well to reach the 50 RWHP goal. I would recommend taking a look at the Halltech Killer Bee intake system, a set of Kook's LT headers with a Catted or Off-road X-pipe, and a mid 220's duration camshaft. If you are looking to keep the car relatively quiet and more of a "sleeper" setup, go with the catted-x combo and we could recommend a very mild-mannered cam that will be VERY tame at idle and drive essentially like stock. Put in a set of Comp 918 Springs in with some chromoly pushrods and you will be ready to go! This would meet and exceed the goals you had in mind while leaving the driveability of the car unchanged. Shoot me a PM or give me a call if you have any questions or concerns.

I would not recommend 150 or 200 shot . The stock engine may not be able to handle that much Hp. You would have to use forged pistons at the least. A 100 shot is safer.
