Default Installed Ported intake manifold

Just got done installing a intake manifold that was ported by Cory at LS2 Port Works. The job was pretty straight forward. Just took it for a test drive. First thing I noticed is that the throttle response is instantly quicker. The car also reved quicker too. I will have more results as soon as I take it to the track. The car is currently running 12.1 @ 118 and I am trying to squeek it into the 11's. Hopefully this will shave off a few 1/100ths or even a 1/10th.

Just curious, how long did the job take? Good luck with the mod.

Cool -Cause I was kinda torn between porting the stock Intake manifold or buying a F.A.S.T 90mm

Typical porting gains can be anywhere from 0-10hp on average. Buy a FAST and get it ported. Typical non-ported Fast gains over ported stock is 15/20... and more coming from the porting of the fast (And of course more substantial gains on H/C cars). I personally gained 17/20 with my Ported FAST 92 over my Ported Stock on a bolt-on only car. Also, notice how it was 103 degrees out when the dyno of the Ported FAST was done! I think it has a little more in it with colder weather.

But, the midrange gains are what is so impressive. Here is my graph.

You can't go wrong with Cory Harris or Spin ported FAST. Both are very reputable!

BTW: Mikeg, sorry for kinda getting offtopic, I think you will get close to getting the 11s! From my ported Fast I dropped about .2-.3 on average in the 1/4 (And that was on street tires).

Here is the graph:

Another vote for F.A.S.T. either non-ported or ported. Go w/ the 92mm which has a couple improvements. In fact, the only 90's around are from old stock since they're now out of production, replaced by the 92.

In addition to what's been mentioned, you'll also notice much less (if any) heat-soak compared to the stocker.

I'm not graph savy-just curious-is there any sacrifice of Low end Torque with porting the FAST Intake? I'm putting together a cam & valvetrain upgrade from Comp Cams -the Cam I chose has Strong low end torque w/ good driveability. Thanks for the 411

There is no sacrifice in low end tq from what I can tell. You can see that there is actually a decent amount of gain in low end and then it really opens up when you get into the midband.

Since you are going with a Cam in the future... a FAST would work very well with your setup. Typically, you will see more gains from the FAST with Cam and/or Head/Cam setups.

It took me about an hour. I'm sure I could do it much faster the second time around, buy I took my time to make sure I did not miss anything and I also cleaned everything when I put it all back together.

I wanted to do the FAST however funds are limited right now. I figured this was a cheap mod to get some power. After I take it to the track I plan on doing the Vmax throttle body. Then compare the 1/4 mile times.

No, at least not yet. The manifold for the LS7 is actually pretty good and can be ported with impressive results.

Many C6 owners w/ the LS2 engine feel the intake manifold is poorly built and not worth porting, hence the interest in the F.A.S.T and the Weiand.

There is not a F.A.S.T for the LS3 either.

The cory harris ls2 Ported intake and TB will give you about 15 rwhp/tq.
If one can afford it a PORTED FAST can get you another 15 + rwhp over
the PORTED OEM. No question about it the FAST 90/92 will cost about 3
times as much also. The FAST is my favorite mod and with 4.10 I created an uncontrolable animal

BTW I have a ported oem in my garage. I may sell it with my diablo PREDATOR. U7194.

Ok, I just got back from Firebird Raceway in Phoenix last night. It was crazy busy due to the funny cars running so we only got to run in between them. I was only able to make one pass in 3 hours! I ran a 12.020 @ 120.55mph. This was almost 2/10ths and 2 mph better than my previous best. So I can definately say that the ported intake from Cory Harris definately helped and is definately worth the money. I know that a ported FAST is probably better but I just cant afford it right now. I know I can hit 11.xx as I spun pretty bad going into second. Next time I am going to put on the DR's and try to get that 11.xx.

The temp was about 67degrees at 1243 feet
R/T .333
60' 1.92
330 5.242
1/8 7.875
1000 10.130
1/4 12.020
mph 120.55

If you can turn 12.02 you wont even need the FAST to get into the 11's. Just a little seat time . If you are crossing over at 120 MPH + the power is already There. I have a BOLTON W PORTED FAST AND 4.10
Gears. I can get wheelspin in the first three gears in the street. Its simply awsome with that combo. I have yet to try the 1/4 mile and I have plans to do that on nov 8th at CECIL in MD. I need a test and tune day.If I can get into the11's the first time out Ill be happy with that.

I hope some of my CF friends can make it to cecil for the test & tune day. Sorry to deviate here. Just trying to get something together.

One time when swapping a ported stocker for a stocker, I timed myself from the moment I popped the hood to the moment I closed the hood....55minutes. Taking your time, it would be about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. Its a good DIY project and Cory's manifolds are awesome.

Thanks! I am going next time with the drag radials. That should get me solidly into the 11's.

Did you get this new time with just the ported intake manifold being the difference from your prior 12.1 (mentioned in your first post) or was it the manifold and the drag radials?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm curious if you know how much of a gain at the track just the intake manifold gave you.

Thanks in advance,
Christopher
