Stock '09?

My '08 used to hit 215-220 in traffic. Put in a 160 thermostat and retuned the fans. Top temp now is around 200, 180-185 on the highway

Oh good! Last night I saw mine hit 212 on the DIC sitting in traffic. It did not continue to climb after that.

You're fine! The stock fan settings (in % of speed) gradually ramp up as the coolant temp rises. here's a stock chart:

Here in AZ I have seen as high as 238. I dont like it. Maybe I will replace with larger radiator for next summer. I already have a 160 stat and tune for fan settings.

I'm curious about that chart. Why is it that the fan is never commanded to go to 100%? One would think once your temps reached 225 or so you'd want 100%.

Probably for fan longevity...dunno.

The hottest my car has ever gotten w/ the 160t-stat and retune is 210 in a displayed 102 degree heat w/ the A/C pumping in stop and go traffic. This is also with the 25% UD pulley that turns the waterpump slower. Back when I had the stock pulley, 205deg was as hot as it got.

yeah, that's normal. I have since put in a 160 thermo and on the highway my temps are around 176-183. If I leave it sit in traffic they will climb like normal because I have yet to get a tune.
