NEED ADVICE: 3200 Stall Converter???
I've read nearly every post about torque converters. I'm looking for some advice about the "streeability"/"drivability" of a 3200 stall converter.
I have a 2006 C6 A6 vert with a 6 lb. Procharger. I periodically go to the track. It currently runs 11.30's @ 124-125 on MT DR's. It's an everyday driver, but mostly less than 20 miles per day. I periodically drive it on trips of 200 miles or longer (Houston to Austin).
I'm looking for 10.90's so I'm considering the Yank 3200, but only because I was informed by Yank that they discontinued the Yank 2800 because people were burning them up--they were just a re-flashed Cadillac converter and wouldn't hold up.
Can someone fill me in about the drivability with a 3200 and whether it's a good choice for my application. I want to keep the car streetable and enjoyable to drive, but would like to be able to launch the car and increase performance.

It's also insanely fast at the track as my 60ft went from 1.78 down to 1.569 and even then, that was in 84 degree weather so I'm guessing I might still be able to get better times once it cools down.

3800 to 3200
I use to have a Yank 3200 in my car before I went with the F1A procharger set-up. I thought a 3800 would be better for me and gave it a try. I then went with a Vig 3800 in my car but after driving around on the streets for awhile I decided to drop back to the 3200. The 3800 was just a bit too much for my likings and wanted to change back to a 3200. This will be a great improvement for me as I do not track my car alot. It will have better street manners now with the 3200 and still be an animal at WOT.
I did change from Yank to Vig as I had a problem with Yank and they didn't stand behind their product. After 2 trys with them I went with Vig and haven't had a problem yet. I would buy a Vig 3200 before I bougth a Yank. Again, this is just MY experience with them

The Vig's (Vigilante) from Precision Industries were a bit looser than the Yanks. At least this was the case in the LS1 world, not sure if that still applies. But the Vig 2800 for instance used to be more of a 3000-3200 stall and the Vig 3200 was more comparable to the Yank 3500-3600's.
I have a Yank 3500 in my Camaro and with a louder exhaust its on the borderline of what I would want for a daily driver. It just gets annoying having the engine and loud exhaust wind up to 3k to get moving at a decent clip. If I did it again, I'd probably go with a Vig 2800, they were the king in track results for the low end of the spectrum stalls. You can get them with twin discs so they hold the power of your SC better but I am sure Yank would build a 3200 the same way for you.

Ahh.. side note, the A6 and your gearing of the Vette would tighten the feel up of any converter compared to my A4 and 3.23 gears in my SS. I'd still not want to go over 3200 on a DD Vette unless I went to the track regularly and times were of most importance.

I just thought of something that might help. If you'd like, I can always take an in-car video of what it's like driving around town. That way you'd be able to see what it's like starting from a dead stop, slowing down, quick acceleration and even some freeway driving.

I've been quietly watching this thread, and am interested in both changing to 3.42 gears (I think I've got the 2.53's as mine is an F55 car) and I was thinking about the stall as well.

i have the vig 3800 a4 trans 373 gears.
i idle at 550 in gear, i take foot off the brake and the car starts moving without giving any gas,
just like stock.

Thats exactly what i want take my foot off the brake and the car goes and still have a good stall/gears i think im going with your set up vig 3800 and 373 gears

Do the slow acceleration from a light [ granny driving] so it goes thru the gears, hard acceleration from a start, crusing at 25 mph then kick it down into second gear and stay on it into 3rd, slowing down from 40 mph as you come to a red light and how about cruising at 70 mph and then getting on it hard for a second or two.

I have a custom twin disc 2800 stall, a built A4 trans and 373 gears. Very responsive at low RPMs from a dead stop and extremely fast acceleration at 1/3 throttle. I did tune the shift point longer.
