Will a 345 fit on a 9.5" wheel?
Guys,
Has anyone attempted this?
I need to get the new MT ET Street Radial (18") on a C6Z - and I have a set of C6Z fronts (9.5") I could use to mount these tires if a tire that wide will fit on a 9.5" wheel.... I know you can squeeze a 315 on the fron wheels (I've personally done this!)! But I dunno about a 345? Has anyone had any success with something like this?

Why do you even what that wide of a tire? If your planning on running this at the track... I wouldn't be going much bigger than a 275. Just because the tire is wider DOES NOT mean it is better! Just FYI.
Plus, although that 18 is okay to run the track... a smaller wheel would be better. Get some 16 or 17in welds if you want a good wheel for drag.

I think the "tire guys" figure the smallest rim size you should use to mount a tire is nothing greater than 10% less than the tire width.
So... your 345 tire is actually 13.58 inches.
Therefore you can go down to (13.58 - 10% (1.35)) = 12.23 inches.
We can round down... so nothing smaller than 12 inches.

I run a 13inch with my 345s. I would never attempt a 9.5 inch rim with that size..
Here is a picture of a 345 tire next to a 10inch rim w/285 on it. You could almost place the entire 285 tire inside the 345...

315/30 is the widest I've squeezed on a 9.5"...you might could get away w/ the 345 on a 10.5 if it's an m/t not bfg, being that I believe it's a 35 series not 30...but traction probably wouldn't be any better than say their 295/45r17, which you could mount on a 17x9.5

Like others have said, you do NOT need to put that much tire on a car to run good times.
I've taken a 255 mickey thompson ET street radial into high 1.5s and low 1.6s in my firebird...that is NOT a wide tire. I've seen a H/C C5 run 275s into the 1.5s as well.

Ed, with as much power we put down with our turbo busa's on one 4 inch patch of tire, i'm sure you can go with a smaller tire and still get it to hook up. good luck, Scott.

Thanks for all the feedback guys... So here's where I'm stuck...
I can put either a 17" or 18" Drag Radial on the back of my 1,000+ RWHP Z06's (yes, I have two of them making that much power). I'm in a quandary on which tire/wheel combo to go with.
I'm thinking the 17" OR 18" 345 @ 27-27.5" tall will net me the best results. The problem is finding the wheel to put it on. I would like to get a front C6Z (chrome so it matches all my other wheels) 9.5" 18" wheel and have it widened to 12" so I can run the 18" DR on it and it will look like a stock-matching wheel.
What do you guys think? Anyone know of someone they recommend for widening of stock wheels?
OR I'm open to other recommendations as well - I just don't want to buy all new (front and rear) wheels. I love the look of stock - and I love a sleeper!
Scott, how's your busa running these days?
Thanks!
