Default Steady Check Engine Light - Runs Fine

I just got a steady check engine light on my C6 after a spirited run through 1st and 2nd gear yesterday and the sheck engine light is still coming on today. Could this be associated with the mods I did to my car around 6 months ago (See signature for mods)?

Do I need to take it to a dealership and have the code read?

I did a search on "Check Engine Light" and got a bunch of results. Almost too many. Some seemed to think this could be related to a low battery. I still have the same OEM battery. Could this be it. The manual says it is either a problem with the emissions system, bad gas or a loose gas cap. I did get gas recently but not sure that is the issue. I also checked to make sure the gas cap was tight. It was.

How do you guys think I should proceed?

I hope I do not need to take the car back to my tuner to resolve this issue.

Buy yourself an INNOVA 3030 OBDII code reader from Walmart (~$70) or on eBay ($60) (make sure it's OBDII-capable for post 1996 vehicles - it will work on all vehicles post 1996). Read the codes to convince yourself it's not a major problem (my suspicion is it isn't). Also check to see that the gas cap is on correctly. If that is the cause, it will take several engine restarts to clear it. But the code reader will allow you to read the code and then clear it if it is something minor. If the CEL then returns, you may or may not have a problem. HTH.
