I would rather run in 50-70 degree weather than extreme cold. Even though my last trip to the track was a debacle with that flat, I find it harder to hook when it's 30 degrees out. If I could just learn to launch at 4500-5000rpm without creeping a head, all would be good. My clutch too has been holding up well with your input.

As promised, here are my timeslips from Saturday. I was car # 3, which is circled. These were the 2 best runs I had, a 12.102 & 12.278.

timeslips.jpg?t=1228159537

My car:

Bone-stock 2008 LS3 C6 6 Speed AT
Tires: Original GY run-flats @ 30psi

After a burn-out, I launched at about 2000 RPM, with traction control and active handling off. I used the paddle shifters to change gears during all my runs; I NEVER drive the car in automatic mode, even under normal driving conditions.

I had 1/2 tank of Sunoco 93. Outside, it was 45 degrees, no wind and very little humidity, a great day to race!

I stored the car this weekend for winter....god, I miss it already.

Thanks in advance for posting my times!

Frank "Evilways" warming up for another 11 second pass

Please see page 1 post # 6 for instructions & rules

THE LIST

Regarding correction factors:
Times are received from all over the country and are not corrected. Because track and weather conditions vary, this list ranking does not, and can not, identify the fastest cars or drivers in any particular order. It only lists the recorded times, regardless of conditions, in order from quickest to slowest. In cases where ET is the same, the higher MPH determines list order.

Jo Siffert would be PROUD!

There is a rumor that Siffert snuck out of Ohio and found some good air and some excellent traction. The rumor is that he not only broke 12 seconds, but absolutely killed it with a 11.79 run at 118.9 mph! And that's with a bolt on lowly LS2.

Siffert, YOU ARE MY NEW HERO!!!!!

looking at the top 10 for showroom stock interesting that 6 of the 10 are automatics mainly the 08 a6. So much for those that insist a real performance/sports car has to be an m6

He sure did. An 11.795@118.75 to be exact with a 1.81 60'. Congratulations Gary!

All he needs now is a loose converter to take out most LS3s!

Most people that say automatics or paddle shift transmission cars are lame just show how ignorant they are. I have nothing to "prove" by owning a M6 Vette, or any other car. My dad raced top alcohol dragsters in the NHRA for many years, and raced 'Vettes too...and what were his cars?

Automatics.

Who do you think talked me out of buying the M6? Him! He has been racing for longer then I have been alive, I took his advice.

So you have an automatic in TA/D? really? you sure about that? Airshifters aren't automatics...

As for class racing, you will see most of the cars run autos not because they are quicker but because they can be more consistent and it reduces driver error not because it is any quicker.

Go to the pro categories and you see manuals i.e. ProStock and many of the comp eliminator cars.

Thats good stuff!!

Of course naturally I'll just take his car back to the track and go faster, and now Ed will want me to do it rather than me asking him.

So, how many automatics do you see on road race tracks? Heck, you might as well save money and buy a Mustang if all you are interested in is drag racing

Okay, Okay, please don't take me seriously. Just having a little fun. I know you guys run automatics so you can sip on your capacino while going down the track

Anyone who understands drag racing understands that automatics do have several advantages. Nothing wrong with doing what works. No right or wrong answers to the transmission wars. We're all in this together
