While I agree that 'on paper' if a 350rwhp car can run a 12.2 then a 395rwhp car should drop right into the 11s (maybe even 11.8s) but you're forgetting one thing Daren...you and I are in a somewhat unique club, we're the only two people to have gone 12.2s in bone stock LS2s, almost everyone else is running 12.4s/12.5s and slower.
So while we know that the LS3 is capable of doing it in great air with an excellent driver (and I too believe that at least a few might do it), this doesn't necessarily mean that it will absolutely happen...and if it does it certainly won't be happening any time soon due to the weather and newness of the cars.
In other words I personally would NOT bet the farm on it.

Ok, maybe soon wasnt the operative term just yet...i keep forgetting it is summertime right now. OK...ill rephrase..I would bet the farm that by the end of the year, I could drive a 2008 Z51 C6 with the NPP exhaust completely stock into the high 11's...

Unfortunately, that wont happen, unless someone pony's up a car for me to try it out on, and my car is officially off the streets. It was totalled in February , thats why yall havent seen me in a while...I really miss my car, and I WILL have another vette. Plans are to buy a new one in January of 09...By then will prolly buy a Z06 (hopefully by then will have 600HP) Just had to get out of the game for a little while. Priorities changed for a bit..

But, I will be back and on the track again. I surely havent forgotten how to drive!!!

Ive been looking at an Older C5 that I can get for cheap with who cares how many miles and just Drop a big cube motor in and run the crap out of it!!!

Sorry to hear about your car Daren, but glad to know that you are OK. I had wondered why we had not heard from you.

Like the guy above said Average to Average there is about a +35-45 RWHP diff in the LS2 and The LS3...
And that is HUGE!
Say All you want but thats 3-5 Grand in mods for the LS2 to just pull even with the LS3...
3-5 grand to pull with an LS3 is still a lot better than losing 10k on a trade-up.

I think the LS3 is a great engine! I think the Vette is maturing more and more. I also think that I would wait for 09s even if I were to sacrifice the 10k. Just want to see how the LS3s perform under test of time.

I was never implying you should trade your car in , all I was saying is that IMO the 05-07 C6 Guys got the ****ty end of the stick.. Iam sorry I aint going to be drving the SAME LOOKING car but the other ones motor is just more powerful than mine...
Some of the guys wont agree with me on that but hey it was my opinion...I still see people talk about track times...Like to almost Calling the LS3 Motor out so to speak>!!??? WTF!???Its like cmon guys, #'s are #'s...!!!
I do agree with you however on the 09 part...
To each his own!

I know there are a disproportionate number of people on this forum who are into modding, and over my long life of being a car nut, I've heavily modded one car (before Al Gore invented the Internet). But like most owners, I'm no longer into modding, and I really kind of get irked at the posts that say "I can mod my LS2 to LS3 levels". If that's your mentality, then lets try a little one-upmanship and say I can mod my LS3 also. Now what have you gained?

As far as your last statement "Just want to see how the LS3s perform under test of time" - I'm not sure what that means. I feel pretty certain that 10 years from now the LS3 will still have about 40 more horsepower than a LS2.

Please understand I'm not seriously trying to one-up you. Just responding to your post and the number of other people who have said basically the same thing in the past few weeks.

Test of time in terms of reliability. I know the Ls3 engine has been around for a while, my point is, it was not in the vette. Chances are, it's perfect and nothing will go wrong. Still, I never buy anything major from GM (or Toyota from now on) thats in first year major revision. Just like you are not into modding, I am not an early adopter.

I will stress again that the Ls3 is a marvel so far and I love it! I am not cutting on it, not being jealous, not doing anything. My initial post was to point out that if I were to trade up, I would lose 10k. If I wanted to mod to have the extra horses, it would be cheaper - for ME. (since I own a c6 from 2006). This is one reason that I am getting a pro charger -- probably in the fall. It seems like a very reliable mod - from all my research on it.

The LS3 is not technically a fist year of anything. The C6 has been around since the end of 2004. The LS3 is still the LS1 with updated componets... The really is nothing new that would cause concern for a new model year comparing to a whole new model of vehicle its self. Now ProCharging or Vortech the LS3 would be interesting...

Blessings,

We did another dyno on a 08 today. I didn't want to start a new thread because it would turn into another SAE, % loss thread. Anyway here is Tony's 08 with 800 miles. This is the strongest one so far.

Here is a 07 with L92/L76 and our L92 cam. This is for the 05-07 guys that don't want to loose to an 08. Total package installed and tuned is $5296 and $7092 if you need LG Pro Long Tube Headers with cats.

That's bone stock, no CAI/filter or anything?
Obviously a manual but I will assume that it also has the NPP exhaust?

What wheels are on that yellow car?

Does LG sell any wheels with grey or black centers that take the stock C6 tires?

I bet it won't be much longer before we start seeing a few bone stock LS3s dynoing over 400rwhp! They just need a little bit more break in miles to do it.
