Tire Pressure Sensors and TPMS - Videos
I've put up some other videos that show how to put the C6 in the "learn" mode and register sensors with the TPMS.
Here are several videos that show how to use a couple different tools to do some diagnostic checks on your sensors - mainly just to check and make sure that the internal battery is strong and that the sensor is working properly.
I also show some sensors from an early 2005 C6 that can be triggered by a magnet, and I show the current sensors that require a radio frequency transmission from an electronic tool.
This first video is of using a couple of different tools to check your sensors. Click the picture below to see the video:
The next video shows using a magnet on early C6 sensors - I hope you especially like the sensor being excited by the magnet on the bottom of my magnetic parts bowl:
This next video is just to show one more tool that's out there. This ATEQ VT50 has a screen that displays a bunch of good info such as the sensor's unique ID# and the tire pressure:
This last video is to show owners of TIPS or KTip.s.t. tools how to avoid the long "hunt" time that the tool may take when "searching" for the transmission protocol needed to trigger a sensor. Our C6 sensors require a simple "continuous wave" transmission, and there is a simple way to tell the tool to use that type of signal so the sensor will trigger almost immediately, and this will avoid the "learn" mode timing out:
I hope these may give you a better idea of the sensors, the TPMS, and the tools required to excite the sensors on our C6 Corvettes.

I finally used your TIPS tool this spring and registered my Comp Greys with summer tires, the tool works perfect and it was really easy. Thanks for the good info

I have had some difficult issues with my sensors that could only be resolved by a trip to the dealer. Thanks for taking the time to explain this in simple terms that even I can understand (hopefully).

Glad to hear the TIPS tool is working good for you!
Yes, the sensors are easy to work with if you have the tool.
Butt.....as you can see in the videos, the C6 started out with those magnetically activated sensors. Why they just couldn't have stuck with those so we could activate them with a couple dollar magnet (or, like in the video, with the magnet on my magnetic parts bowl) I don't know!?!?

Great job...again.
These are informative and accurate instructional videos concerning the tire pressure sensors (TPS) on the C6 and the various sensor tools on the market. These should be required viewing for all C6 owners.
I just submitted links to both of your series of videos to be considered for inclusion on the C6 FAQ's page. These should be required viewing for all C6 owners.

You can get one direct from ATEQ for $595:

The VT50 is a great tool if you can find it used for $200 or so. Butt....I haven't seen any used ones in quite a while.
I sent you a PM with some other options.
If you want a tool with a screen, I recommend the OTC-3833. It's a completely universal tool that will work with all sensors that require a tool that transmits a radio frequency to trigger them. It can also do diagnostics on C5 sensors that are triggered with a magnet (after the C5 sensor is triggered with a magnet, the tool will pick up the transmission from the sensor and display the data on the screen).
As I mentioned in the PM, you can get an OTC-3833 for $400 right now on eBay, but if you watch the site you may be able to find one for down around $350.

so you guys are saying with older sersors you just need a 12 dollar magnet? but the new ones need a 200 dollar tool? wtf where can i buy the magnet triggered sensors!?
can you mix and match sensors? can i use 05 magnetic sensors on my 06'?

Yes, you can mix and match sensors - all years and models of the C6, including the ZR1, have the same TPMS and will use the same sensors.
However, there just aren't any of the old magnetic ones available anywhere that I have seen for a couple years. The XLR Cadillac also has the same TPMS and it used magnetic sensors for 2004 and early 2005 XLRs. I saw some on eBay several months ago. However, with the internal batteries in the sensor having a 10 year design life, the old 2004 and 2005 sensors are about 1/2 way through their life.
You can get a very good tool from Tire Rack for $105, or from Katech for $140.

Will the magnetically triggered sensors from the C5 work with the C6? There were two versions used in the C5 - before and after 2001 if I remember right. Even though they may be past their 10 year life span, there was a guy that posted how to replace the batteries in them, and I think also offered a R&R service for them if the user didn't feel comfortable doing the handiwork.

There are a couple of guys on the C5 section of the forum that dig the sealant out of the back of the C5 sensor, remove the battery, solder in a new battery, and reseal the back.
The oldest C6 sensors aren't quite to the point where the batteries are running out yet, but perhaps somebody will start doing the battery replacement for C6 sensors in a couple years.

Yes, that's correct!! And you don't use the DIC buttons to put the car into the learn mode.
And, I'm trying to get a 2010 or newer to make another video of how to register the sensors on a 2010+ C6 without a tool.
The 2005-2009 sensors require a tool like in the videos to trigger them.
However, in 2010 a different TPMS computer (actually a part of the RCDLR module) was put in the C6, and it requires different sensors than were used in the earlier C6's. They are actually sensors that have been used in Impalas and several other GM vehicles for several years.
With a 2010 or newer, you don't need a tool - you can trigger the sensors during the relearn procedure by changing air pressure in the tire.
Unfortunately, the 2010+ sensors won't work in a 2005-2009 C6, and the 2005-2009 sensors won't work in a 2010 or newer.
If you get a new set of sensors, make sure you get the correct ones for your model year.
If you buy a set of wheels with tires and sensors already mounted, if they aren't the correct sensors for your model year they just won't work.

Bob, I've said before and will say again, you are the KING of the pressure sensors!
Thanks for posting this...bookmarked for future reference.
BTW my buddy Phil (PJM341) had nice things to say about you too!
