A6 vs M6 for a turbo vert ??
I had a 99 vert with 418 CID and loved it. But thinking now about getting a 2006 or 07 vert with a A6 or M6.
Thing is Iam going with the APS TT kit when I get the car.
Will the A6 handle the 500 lbs torque and 500+ rhp ????
I know the M6 with a output shaft upgrade will handle the power but what about the A6 ???

Under regular grocery getter type use it will last though.

The jury is out on whether the A6 will handle the power though I think at 500hp/tq it will not be a problem. We already have people running that. So far I have not heard of anyone smoking the tranny. There is an APS TT being put together soon that has the A6. We will see what we see. As I plan this same mod and I already have the A6.

Wow, that post was amazingly factual.
I often base all my 50,000 dollar purchases off assumptions such as those.

But as most of us know it's for a few different reasons and not necessarily simply because an auto can't take the power.
While not quite 505hp, Cadillac does have a 469hp supercharged V8 going through the 6L80E (A6) and that's a much heavier car too.

Thing is I know a 6sp is cheaper to rebuild and beef up but the A6 is nice due to no miss shifts and just less hassles in day to day driving.
I don't think I will be using slicks but do plan on upgrading wheels and tires to CCW 5 spoke with some wider than stock tires and maybe nittos if traction is a real problem.

I'm certain that either the owner of the twin turbo A6 or the LAPD guys will post info as soon as the install and testing is completed.

LoL Peter, I talking about the guys at LAPD. I would be up for it but my wife is already hounding me about killing my warrenty early. If the A6 holds up then I can put her fears to rest, kinda. Anyway at the rate I'm going I will have 36K on it by this time next year.

You have heard of Dave Hill haven't you?
Perhaps you need to do a bit more research for your $50,000 purchases. I know I do!

there where no automatic C5 ZO6 as will. maby because the gear will not handle 405HP. (five extra HP)
so if you install an air filter make sure to change the transmission to a manual one.

I am planning to add a number of mods on my A6 on Saturday that will take my auto over 520 RWHP. I spoke with Lingenfelter who mentioned that they currently have 4 people running much higher than 520 RWHP and the tranny has been holding up just fine. However, I suppose that constantly running the tranny hard will cause it to break eventually. I plan to use mine for a daily driver and rarely will push the tranny too hard.
