I went with Kooks 1 3/4 and very pleased with the results. Picked up 35RWHP and 32 RWTQ. The Gains are accross the rpm range but really shine from 3500 - 6500 RPM. I had the honker before the headers and I think it helped the kooks work better The main thing to remember is go with 1 3/4 unless going with a crazy add onns...

Now the retaill for the Dynatech is IDENTICAl to the American Racing Headers. Kooks is one level up in price and LG is the grand daddy as the most expensive ones.

PS: Does anyone know the difference between the American Racing Headers and the AMerican Racing Headers "Vette Doctor Series"? They are obviously made by the same manucaturer, but what sets one apart from the other?

Brasil - Thanks for posting this thread. I am EXACTLY in the position you are in looking for the "right" headers for my 06/A6/Z51.

Unfortunately, I am still in the same boat. I would really like for someone who really understands about exhaust scavengin, torque / HP curve, and post the advantages of one system over the other. They are all different, so there must be a reason. Dynatech has lowered their price to match the retail of the American Racing headers. Kooks do not seems to have very good welds and not as good of workmanship. I am leaning towards the LG's.

From what I've been reading on this thread, I'm leaning toward LGs also. Want to do cats also, but haven't checked prices/vendors yet. New air box also, but I'm told that the stock box with a better filter will provide all the air the engine can use. Also, the OEM throttle body is suppposed to be as good as any other.

Well, since you are in CA, the official answer is None, as no header for the C6 has CARB approval, as far as I know.

We carry Dynatech, QTP, Stainless works, Kooks, LGM and even some of the cheaper lines... I also make the LEAST money selling the LGM headers..

that being said I nearly force every C5/C6 into the LG Pro headers over the rest... I dont like the LG Streets one bit, so if you have the option, upgrade to the LG Pros! Installation is a cinch, the kits come with EVERYTHING you need to do the install, no issues with fitment or clearance etc.

Im not brand name biased, I just like what works best... we use QTP on all our FBody cars, Stainless works and Kooks on all the GTOs and Dynatech on most of the trucks... Both shop vettes (the C5 and C6) have LGMs

Same here. I already have the Borla Sport catback and want to keep it. I want to add headers w/cats and an x-pipe. I do not plan on changing my cam or heads. My concerns are:

1. Will my current Borlas be OK to use?
2. Will I require a tune to get the best results and what is in involved with a retune?
3. What effects a header install will have on my warranty?

The LG's appear to be my best bet at this time. I read they are also made by Borla.

I also ordered a B&B Bullet catback in the GP with TByrne, as the deal was too good to pass up. I bet that these are going to be loud with long tubes, whci I will be ordering. I also need to wait for the tuning software to be released for the 07's.

3Xblack, yes your Borlas will be OK to use with Long tubes, as long as you get the complete system that comes with the connecting mid X pipe. You will want to get a tune to make the most gains as well

Did you get a tune immediately after the headers were installed, or just after it threw the codes?

Default What about Stainless Works???

C6 and C6/Z06 Corvette Full System Pictures, Videos, and Overview

Hello, I'm Rick Conway in the Sales/Tech. Support Department of Stainless Works Performance Exhaust in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. We are pleased to introduce to the Corvette Forum our Mandrel Bent High Quality 304L Stainless Steel full system (headers w/x-pipe and axle-back) for the C6 and C6 Z06 Corvette! I have included some dyno numbers, photos, and a link to a video clip of a new Z06 with our full system for your viewing and listening pleasure. I think you will agree that this system looks and sounds as amazing as it performs!

We have the ability to install our exhaust systems on your vehicle in our clean and secure installation facility. We have done countless installs on extremely high dollar custom muscle cars, dragsters, and exotics. Call to schedule your installation today!

C6 Axle Back System

C6 Headers with Random Technology High Flow Metal Matrix Cats

Stainless Works Performance vs. The Competition is... NO COMPETITION!!!

In a recent price comparison our Stainless Works C6/Z06 Axle-back exhaust system and x-pipe center section retails for $300 less than the competitons axle back system ONLY. That's $1298.99 vs. 1599.99 and you get 1/3 more quality performance stainless exhaust system for your money! Furthermore the complete stainless steel construction (stainless muffler packing, clamps, EVERYTHING) of all our exhaust systems is backed up with our 100% lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship meaning that you will never have to replace your performance exhaust system again... EVER!

Weight Savings and Performance

We took weight as well as horspower and torque numbers into account when building this system and we were able to manufacture an full exhaust that weights an amazing 40 lbs. less than your stock C6 and Z06 Corvette systems.
(81.5lbs vs. 122lbs).

Proven on the Dyno and on the Road Course!!!

We produce our own brand of performance exhaust systems and mufflers as well as many private label products for top tuners and builders such as Lingenfelter, Wheel to Wheel, Mallet, Roush, and others (Yea...they use our stuff). We are the only exhaust company to have had our headers and exhaust systems on Corvettes, which have finished in the top five of Car and Drivers One Lap of America, nearly every year for the past five years. We also supplied the headers and exhaust to the MTI Built Z07 of Ron Adee, which won the 2003 One Lap.

Dyno numbers for the C6 Z06 full system are as follows... (Without a tune or cold air induction)

Peak Wheel Horsepower Increase: 29 HP from 4200-5200 RPM
Peak Wheel Torque Increase: 41 ft/lbs @ 3400 RPM
Under the Curve Torque Gains: **Torque Curve Broadened** 30+ ft/lb gain from 2600-4800 RPM and 20-30ft/lbs from 4800 RPM to redline. This system is an absolute torque monster! All of the numbers listed above are with the factory computer tuning. With tuning we have seen gains of 40+RWHP and 40+RWTQ possible.

Here are the dyno numbers on some of our other systems...

2006 GTO - 52.83hp and 53.37 ft.lb @ 5200 RPM Thats Right
2005 Cadillac CTSV - 47.4hp and 53.2 ft lb. 5900 RPM (Yes we make one for the Caddy)
97-04 Corvette - 31.83hp and 29.72 ft.lb @ 6000 RPM
03-04 Mustang Cobra - 57.5hp and 53 ft.lb. @ 6000 RPM

Check us out at www.stainlessworks.net for more products and sound clips of our performance stainless steel exhaust systems!

The biggest difference between the C6 and Z06 headers is in the primary tube size and design. The Z06 headers use a long primary tube design, and also a larger tube diameter to make the most torque and HP possible. We recommend the 1 7/8" headers for cars with bolt ons, and mild head and cam packages, and the 2" headers for cars with radical cylinder head and cam packages or for non-n/a applications.

Our standard C6 headers are designed to work well with the smaller displacement LS2 engine and utilize the proven header design of our C5 headers. These will fit both 6 speed and automatic cars with no modifications of transmission cooler lines, etc.

If there are any questions about our products or if you would like to place an order, please contact me in the Stainless Works Sales/Tech. Department at 1-800-878-3635.

Rick Conway

All I have to say is I hope you guys have your R&D straight on this C6 exhaust. The Y-pipe I bought from you guys 3 years ago that was supposed to be a direct fit for Hooker longtubes on my 96 Trans Am was no where close to fitting. I had to take it to a muffler shop and have it cut up and re-welded to fit. Needless to say I was a little pissed about that. I`ve installed several exhaust systems including ARE headers and X-pipe on my C6, several 4th gen f-bodies, and that Y-pipe was the only one that would not fit, no matter what you did w/ out cutting.

Does anyone know what type of cats and size does the American Racing headers have? I know that the LG PRO's have the Random Technology 3 inch cats. ALso what size is the piping of the American Racing X pipe? 2 1/2 or 3 inch?
