Default How to change bulb for signal light?

How do you change the signal light bulb on the driver's side front?

Pop open the flap in the fenderwell, reach in, depress tab, turn 90 degrees, and extract the socket and bulb. Pull bulb out of socket, snap in new one (3057NA available at Walmart), don't forget the bulb grease, now reverse the process to reassemble.

For the foglights you have to remove the tires.

No, you don't. To get to the fogs, you only have to remove the lower inner fenderwell (the piece that wraps up to the air dam). You can do that without removing the tire.

That's good news though I have heard it's easier to remove the tire perhaps that is for the low and high beams.

I removed the tire the first time I changed a DRL. That's because I wanted to get my fat head in there to see how it all worked. After that, though, I've been able to change the bulbs without removing the tire. It's a little tight, and you work mainly by feel, but it can be done.

Why do you replace so many bulbs?

Keep those DRL on and you'll find out...turn signal bulbs were not intended to burn consistantly.

I am surprised that the DRLs are just turn signal lamps. I would expect that they would be 'high service' lamps to endure always being on.

Well those DRL's do double duty as a turn signal and daytime light. Perhaps the Silverstar bulbs last longer?

I would take it to the dealer and have it done under warranty while I drink a cup of coffee.

Not covered under warranty, considered a wear and tear item.

Apparently, lots of Corvette owners can't change a light bulb.

I've only changed 2 in my own car. That's because I've gotten in the habit of switching them off when I start the car.

So you must drive with your DRL's off most of the time?

Isn't that for the wiring harness if the bulbs keep going out?
