Name the problem
I have a noise coming from the engine compartment / front dash area. The best I could describe it is a low pitch whine. it only happens driving between 2000 and 3000 rpm. it happens both driving and if you rev the motor to 2000 you can also hear it. Its very faint but can be heard in the car. any ideas 425 miles

I have the same situation, mine sounds like it's more towards the passenger side of the dash/firewall area. Only happens above 2000-2100 rpm and light engine load (city cruising in 3rd gear). To me it sounds like it's a vacuum dashpot resonating. Maybe one of the a/c or heater control devices???? It doesn't really sound associated with the drivetrain, more like something mounted to the firewall or under the dash.

I have the same thing and I also have it in my CTS-V, it is much less audible in the Vette. If they are both the same it is from the heater core, GM was aware of the problem since June of 2004 on the V and still has no fix. I'm no expert and could be wrong but I recognized the sound right away and I've been living with it for months so its a good guess.

There is no resolution as of yet for the Caddy, engineers still working on it. I remember when i first brought it in after I got it Caddy had no clue what it was and then someone pulled that bulletin up. I would imagine Chevy either has no clue, knows about it and hasn't released a bulletin or will know about it when enough people start telling them about it. I can tell you what they told me and that is there is no danger to the car, its basically harmonics. Its annoying but not in any way damaging, turn on music or have windows open and can't hear it. Drive with no music and windows closed and once your attuned to it, it can drive you nuts.
