If I have an ECU that was tuned on my car, can it be swapped into another car and maintain the tune?
The tune won't go any where in the ECU. It is in there until reprogramming happens. You could mail it to me and the tune is still in there. I can mail it back, same tune. To perform in another car is touchy. Even if the cars are identical, tunes might not be totally compatible between cars. You might need a tweak...

Yea, I've swapped between this ECU and a stock ECU, so I know the tune will hold in the ECU for the car it was tuned for, just wasn't sure what would happen if you stuck it in another car.
I'm selling the tuned ECU and want to make sure I'm listing it right.
Yep! This! With your VIN in the PCM, in another car, it won't even start.
PS, if you're selling it, you shouldn't be selling it with the tune as any sort of value. Without the VIN swap as a bare MINIMUM, the PCM is worth nothing more than a core.

bummer, I'll just relist it as a spare ECU then incase someone is looking to keep their stock one stock and install and tune over mine.
