Default New intake and exhaust, should I get it tuned?

OK

Added a Vararam, and am about to add some B&B bullets to the car. My question is, should I take the time to get a tune on it or is just intake/exhaust not enough to warrant the expense?

Also, where in Northern IL should I go to get the work done?

And lastly, about how much should I expect to pay?

Thanks much!

Mike

Yes, you should get the tune to take full advantage of your bolt-on mods.... in fact, the tune alone will give you as much improvement as the hardware you've installed.

I suspect that most reputable tunes will cost in the $200-$400 range.

Good Luck!

I would get the tune if you are doing headers.

Don't think the dyno is necessary yet..........

And NO. Don't buy a generic gizmo to do your tune for you automatically!!

Take it to a tuner that has access to a dyno!

Making changes to the way your cars breathes will certainly impact your AFR. A good suggestion would be to get the car on the dyno and see whats available to you. Hand helds would be a last resort. Hyper-tech, superchips, Jet and diablo sports can do custom work for a fee, but, adjusting the AFR without the use of a wideband O2 sensor, in my opinion, is just taking an educated guess on their part. The cost of a hand held vs. the cost of a tune is not that much.
