Default Idle speed seems high

Had my new (2007) Z06 for about a week now. I'm still getting to know it, but the idle speed seems fast to me. When I start it cold it idles at about 1100. After it warms up (10-15 min) the idle drops to 900-1000. The car is stock with exception of a wild to mild switch. What should the idle be, and do I need to take it to the dealer to have it adjusted? Thanks!

Stock idle is supposed to be 625 or so. Might have the dealer, or a tuner look at it. Is there a possibility it's been tuned?

Thanks for the info. I suppose its possible that it was tuned, however everything looks and feels stock. I'll have to get it looked at.

The mechanic at the dealer said he called the tech center and they suggeted that the throttle body might be "carboned up" (?) He ran some cleaner through it and there was little if any change. Upon closer inspection, he found some kind of defect in the throttle body which he thought might be letting a small amount of air into the mixture. They intend to replace the throttle body (under warranty). We'll see.

Idles perfectly at 650-675. Much nicer.

Lotus Elise II: High Idle Speed and Cutting Out

By Nick Hibberd
Hibtech Auto-Electrical Diagnostics

The vehicle came in with a complaint of high idling and occasional cutting out. After further quizzing of the customer, the “cutting out” turned out to be stalling when pulling to a stop. I arrived at the vehicle on an unusually cold morning after it had stood overnight. The engine started normally except for an unusually high idle speed. It’s normal to get a slightly increased idle RPM on a cold engine because the idle stepper motor gets jacked open slightly to overcome fuel inefficiencies, but this was idling just under 3000 RPM.

The RPMs eventually dropped to a normal value (hovering around 1000) as the engine warmed up. Checking the system with a scan tool found no codes logged. Before doing a road test, all the preliminary work was carried out whilst in the workshop covering mechanical defects such as a sticking throttle cable, sticking throttle butterfly, inlet plenum air leaks, etc. Each area checked out OK. For good measure the throttle body and idle stepper motor were given a good clean. Then it was time for a road test.
