After a fair amount of forum searching (and posting this question in the tech section), I've found several statements that the C6 cooling fans turn off above either 30 mph or 35 mph. I've also found several statements to the contrary -- statements that say the fans run based upon temperature only, regardless of speed. I can't find clarification in the service manual either. Anyone know for sure if the fans turn off above a certain speed even if ect would otherwise cause them to run?
The fans in a normal situation will turn off above 35mph. In an overheat situation the fans will activate no matter what the speed.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the reply. Let's say that my fan is set to be off at 196 degrees then turn on at 15% at 199 degrees. If my coolant temp is 205, for example, and the fan is running, will the fan turn off immediately if I exceed 35mph or will it run until the temp drops to below 199 regardless of my speed?

Can't speak for all applications, however , on my 06,the fan is temperature and a/c controlled only. The fan follows the programmed temp. percentages regardless of speed.

The service manual, because it makes no reference to speed being a determining parameter, would tend to support this.
Thanks.

In HP Tuners, the fan speeds can be set based on coolant temps as it should be. I think it makes total sense to control fans based coolant temp regardless of vehicle speed.
I've never seen any mention of vehicle speed and fans setting based on vehicle speeds in HP Tuners.

The fan will be driven by tables related to coolent temps and AC if on not vehicle speed.
Don't know about your engine but GM Supercharged V6's (L67 and L32) have a function in the VCM that turns fans off above a certain speed. Typically 35 MPH. The air flow thru the radiator at 35 MPH would be well above any air flow from the fan(s). Why waste the energy to run the fans when they would have no benefit anyway? If you have HP Tuners, look on the page for Fans in your VCM calibration and it will tell you for certain.

That setting doesn't appear to exist, at least on the LS3 models
My '08 Z06 turns the fans off gradually over ~35 MPH, even if the ECU had them running previously below that speed. Data logging supports this. Although I haven't had it in an overtemp condition to see if there is a threshold temp that overrides this.

Yep, there sure is a temp correlation. I will post up an image of the settings when I get to work to show why it does that
