Do you know who the tuner is that tuned your pcm? Only the tuner that tuned the PCM can unlock it.

This is actually the locked one that I had replaced during the FI install.

My question is if anyone can unlock it, and return it to me in usable condition....

I wanted to get a tune from Doug at ECS, and would prefer not to have my car down for a week without a PCM. I would use it as a spare...

And Ian, anyone who touched my car prior to the Blower install SWEARS that they NEVER lock a tune, but someone obviously did... I've been told that it is possible to have it unlocked, it's just a matter of finding the right person.

Thanks for the replies fellas!

I only charge 35 to unlock the computers. Sometimes though it may take a week for it to find the correct code. You just have to send in the computer with a note and payment and ill ship it out the second that it is unlocked.

^^^^^ Jesse is a standup guy and has been doing this stuff for a long time.

Chalky, can I assume you just copy/pasted this from another forum/thread?? I know that Jesse's forum name is normally "wait4me" and I know Chalky, you live in WI as you helped me years ago with removing my PCM from my Firehawk back when you had an SS. It may confuse some people, as Chalky is -not- Jesse.

Default HP Tuner

Or, since you have HP Tuning equipment, you could use a tuner that uses that software and they could email you tunes and you would not have to remove the ECM at all.

Problem is you can't pull the tune unless you can unlock it.

Chris White can also unlock ecm's. He wrote code for the E38 ecm for GM.

im surprised that Doug can't reflash it with a Tech II back to stock OS, then upload his tune. i think ECS uses EFILIVE to tune though,, but they probley got hptuners laying around as well. have you talked to Doug yet?

If a ECM is locked by a tuner, regardless of which software that was used to tune, can the Tech II write over it anyway? .....Or does it first have the be unlocked with the original software for a Tech II to write to the ECM?

The dealer can flash it to stock which unlocks it. I presume it's with a tech 2. I've had to have them do this on a used car I purchased.

I am looking at a 06Z that was tuned. I have HPtuners. It usually will read the PCM but just cant edit unless I buy the lic for that year.( Read some silervados, impala, tahoe etc..)

If the PCM is locked I will not be able to link or when I press read ECM it will fail or ???
Thanks
Dennis
