I have 07C6Z with header, x-pipe and intake and tune, but I like to change back to stock. So after PCM flash back to stock tune will CVN number will change back to stock too???
I have talked to a local GM World Class Tech where I bought my 08 and he absolutely swears that if the C6Z is brought in with the original tune restored, they, GM or the dealer could not tell that the E38 ECM has been modified and returned to stock. What might give you away is if the tune used to restore your tune was not the original tune.
Many tuners on this forum are of the same opinion. The developers of EFILive and HPT have implied the same as well. I even talked to a someone who wrote code for the GM C6 OS and he told me the same thing.
With that said, I cannot absolutely, positively be sure as your results may vary.
Drop a note to a few tuners on CF. There are some pretty knowledgable guys on here that are willing to answer questions.
if the same tune (aka was in the car before the tuning) was restored GM dealer cant find it out ( at least for the E38 ECU) but maybe GM can ...if u have HP tuner beta version u can compare the CVN of the stock and tuned files ...and it showed me that once u re flashed the stock file back it does restore to the original CVN.....

But I dont have HPT I took My car to local tunner shop. I think they do have stock file, but not from my car...
What a PITA huh? Regarding restoring the original tune, RitchieRich (sp) on this forum claimed that he had someone at a Chevy store flash his ecm back to stock and the cvn numbers would not match up. A theory was put forward that they may have been a situation where the original tune was not restored. First time I had heard that.
If I was in your shoes and for peace of mind, I would contact RWTD, Howard @ Redline, TJWong, Charlie @ RPM, Jim Halltech for their opinions. These guys and many like them are dealing with these issues every day.
