My Cooksey has the above ECU with stock tuning. I only run Sunoco 94 octane fuel in it. What I want to know is for an event on the dragstrip would the ECU (with stock tuning) take advantage of race fuel if I decide to run it in the car?
I can get 109 octane unleaded race fuel around my parts, would the ECU need time to figure out that the fuel has that much octane to take advantage of it?? Will it make a difference??? Would I have to disconnect the battery to allow the ECU to compensate for the extra octane fuel if I add it to the tank???
Please no guesses, I need to know the REAL FACTS on this topic. Thanks.
No knocking. Just wondering if putting 109 fuel in it for the dragstrip might give a little power if the ECU detects the much higher octane and cranks up the timing to a certain point.
no the ecu with not compensate for anything over 93 octane, the higher octane will help with eliminating any knock. You have to tune the computer to take advantage of race fuel. It mite help with power if it knocked with the factory tune.
