Default MyHardTop SCT Tune for Z06

I am looking into buying the SCT Tune from Carlos and am wondering what this tuner can do for the car. How close is it to a custom dyno tune. Carlos ie MyHardTop has put up some stout numbers on his Vette Air site. I am looking to get close to 500rwhp with an intake/stat/vette air and tune. Also does the SCT Tuner allow you to place the tune back to stock like it matters anymore since waranty is over. Would be nice to be able to change tire sixe and not have a problem also. Anybody use this SCT device????

Can't say for sure about the GM SCT but for Ford the SCT Pro works much like the HP Tuner except they supply tunes at no extra charge. You can scan and make tunes and changes yourself via lap top if you like. If you buy just the handheld then no lap top is needed. The hand held holds up to three tunes, they supply, along with the stock tune which can be used to return to stock anytime just like the HP Tuner.

SCT makes some great tunes for Mustangs. You tell them what mods you have and they send you files specific for those mods. Hopefully they are as good for GM cars. SCT does take a little longer to program as you have to program into the hand held via your lap top where as the HP Tuner file goes directly into your ECM. But you do get a tune that is very close to optimum so a lot of testing is most likely eliminated. I would also say that the HP Tuner is a little more user friendly and simplier to use than the SCT Pro. Of course once you learn it not a problem.

that helped me out a little. Maybe I need to find a buddy who has HP TUners....the full program. I would like to keep it simple and just buy a unit for a few hundred and get a tune darn near close to optimum. Thank you for the post and hope CArlos and some of his guys chime in here at Vette Air.

I did, you never got my PM from way back then? WOW

According to SCT, we can load the following parameters to the handheld unit: PT and WOT shifting by RPM and Speed, re-tweak line pressure for more positive shifts and adjust TQ lock-up.

I hope this helps.

Thanks and sorry about the PM drop.

Carlos

That's ok,thought you had forgot about me..... sounds great . way ? if you put one of your tunes on it can you still fine tune it such as idle speed and timing with the unit itself(meaning adjusting it myself) ?
