Default Those with tunes read (gm locks ecu).

The newest GM updates to the ECU's have rendered the ECU's locked. This affects:

e38 or e67 ecms from GM.

I couldn't find anything on HPTuners site after a few minutes of digging, anyone find anything, or is this just a Diablo problem?

here is the real question, what if you buy a NEW one from GM to replace the one in your car (bad things happen) are they locked from the factory? when they get reflashed, to your vin, Is HP and others going to work still!... this does worry me a little..

it's not a diablo issue, it's a GM issue...

after the ecm is updated/flashed, even the TechII can not communicate or reflash the ecm....

you probably didn't find anything over there because they don't know about it yet, and/or nobody has run into the problem yet...

but, it's a GM issue, not a diablo, hpt, etc etc issue...

They are phasing out the TECHII.
As for the locking it, from what I understand the ZR1 comes locked, but they've already cracked it. I don't think it will take long for the software guys to circumvent this.

I posted this same question on the HP Gen4 forum today, just one response so far.

Yes. Also, if you also got your own HP Tuner you could TunerLock your own ECM and then the dealer could never mess with your ECM.

On the other hand, the gig could be up on you too regarding warranty work when the dealer realizes you locked your tune instead of GM.
