I'm this close to buying the fiberglass one. Do you have any numbers on the weight of it? I may have to wait for the CF version.

I don't actually. The carbon version wouldn't be significantly lighter, a few lbs would most likely be it.

A factory OEM carbon fiber hood weighs about 5 LBS. Cant believe that the fiberglass one is that close to it. Anybody that can add something to this would be great.

I believe it's carbon fiber laid over fiberglass. That's why it is fiberglass on the bottom side. So the CF is just for looks.

It's actually not that way. The top is 100% carbon and the bottom structure (they are two pieces molded together) is fiberglass. A yes it's carbon and glass, but it's not carbon over glass on the top piece.

Joe according to the Z06 weights list the OEM carbon hood weighs 16.2 lbs vs the OEM fiberglass hood at 26 lbs.

This is very interesting. I've had guys tell me that the CF hood they have for sale is 4.5 lbs. total, that's for an OEM GM hood. I've had the hood that's on my ZO6 off when I did the cam and heads with fellow Forum member Jed Blanks. We carried that hood across the shop for safe keeping and I'm telling you that that hood couldn't have weighed more than 15 lbs. on a bad day. No way that thing weighed 26 lbs. So now I'm really confused.

Maybe you removed the fabric heat insulator on the underside of the hood? That has some weight to it.

Interested in the CF hood as well. Also interested in seeing the trays.

Can you tell us just how much higher the cowl is in the rear than the OEM hood?

I just worded it incorrectly. Meant CF over FG. Didn't intend to make it sound like a cheap hood or anything like that.

The hood was supposed to be only about an inch taller at the back side of the hood.

Thanks, Quik Z.
