FS: 06 Z06 T56 Transmission
Ok here's the deal. I thought this transmission was bad because I had a strange whine after getting off the highway from a drive from down south (about 150 miles) and got stuck in the rain the entire time (never drive the Vette in the rain if I can avoid it). I got off the highway and had an annoying whine. The car still drove 100% normal and shifted normal but it was whining so it was dropped off at the shop the next day. I bought an RPM Lvl 5 transmission replacement. When we pulled the drivetrain out we found that the torque tube had failed at the front end where it bolts to the engine. It had cracked was causing the driveshaft to whine and wear away at the torque tube. Only thing I can guess is it was a weak spot that when the rain hit the hot torque tube just finally made it fail. This transmission had Royal Purple synthetic in it since around 4k miles.
So... here's the deal. It shifted completely fine and if the driveshaft hadn't been whining you wouldn't have known there was anything wrong. BUT, because there's no way for me to test it and see if the transmission has any whine now or if it was all from the driveshaft I'll sell it with the understanding that you might need to rebuild it. I know that cores are going for around a grand if you want to have your transmission upgraded by most shops. It may be totally fine - it was shifting fine. You can always have Precision Drivetrain check it out for you and go through it.
I'll take $700 for it plus shipping or come pick it up. It's HEAVY so local would be beneficial!
