Remove the unit located in the trunk drivers side. Take it apart and insert a small spring in the rear of the unit. A pack of springs is available at Home Depot or Lowes for under 5 bucks.. Forget the dealer.

Heck, when mine did the very same thing three years ago, I't didn't even yake a spring to get it fixed... just a quick shot of WD-40 on the spring that is already there... 3-years alter, still fixed.
Of course, your spring might be busted and WD-40 won't do the trick, but it might be worth a try...

WD40 didn't work on mine and I didn't have time to put a new spring in so I just put a rubber band from the actuater to a tab above the carpet. It's worked so well I haven't bothered taking it apart.

So is this unit adjustable?
As my pin wont hold the door closed i had to add some double sided tape to make the block bigger for the pin to hold the door closed, or is it that the spring is to weak to stay open?

If I recall it's not adjustable. When you open the unit up, usually the spring is gone. I have no idea where it goes. A replacement spring of about 1/4" x1/4" does the trick. You can't scew it up, it's not brain surgery.

Mine got stuck in the open position once. I tried WD-40, etc., nothing would get that thing loose. Then I went to the back of the car, pulled the carpet back, and simply pushed the plunger forward. It popped back and has been fine since.

WD40 and work it into the button that holds the gas door shut. Work the button in and out while spraying lube in. Worked for me. Didn't require removal or replacement.
