XM Module Wanted
I'm looking for an XM module for a 2005. I believe the part number is 28045272. If you have the wiring harness as well, that would be great. I have the Bose premium sound with navigation.
Please send me a private message. Thanks!
Dana
Note: I have since learned that I probably already have the wiring harness installed by the factory.

Thanks guys. I dug around above the wheel well and found not a white connector, but a black 16-pin connector. Only 7 of the pins actually have wires terminating into the connector. I'm hoping that this will do the trick.
I tried to get my local dealer to give me an answer as to what was involved in adding XM. They referred me to a stereo installer that contracts with them. Of course, I can't get an answer from them either. They wanted to know the date of manufacture of my car (March 2005) and the VIN, and of course they never did get back to me after repeated calls.
My understanding--based on some research I did on these forums--is that if I get the XM module installed, the dealer will have to program the head unit to recognize it. At least it appears that I have the wiring already installed.
As for where I'll put the antenna, I'll figure something out after I know I can get the unit working. Maybe I'll buy a 2008 mirror or put it in the roof since it's fiberglass. I'll have to experiment with the best placement and signal strength and, of course, I'll post my solution on this site.
Thanks again!

It's probably easier than you think. The wiring is already there. The only real thing you would have to deal with is the antenna. What you would need to do is get your hands on an XM style antenna. From a Sirius thread it's known that there is an adaptor that will fit the antenna connectors on the factory XM module to allow you to put a single-lead style antenna. Once you have that, you can run the antenna in the rear bumper cover. Satellite signals will go through fiberglass. It was already shown however I am running my antenna inside the bumper and can tell you for a fact that this is true. You should be able to do the same thing with the XM antenna.
Pay the dealer (if needed) to turn on the XM feature and you're good to go.
See this thread below for how the antenna was mounted for mine. It was someone else's idea and it works great.

See if this place can help you with an antenna. The link is for converting the XM antennas to a Sirius module but if they have this, they can likely hook you up with an XM antenna.

I was kinda under the impression that each one of those leads is a separate antenna. In the 08's one lead goes to the right side and the other to the left and that maybe the 05's had something turned the two into one.
If I am right, you should be able to get something like this:

and be cool with it by using the mounting setup like the thread I linked above shows.

What's that pink thing???Doesn't the antenna just plug right in to the module??I wonder if the one I have for my aftermarket XM will fit in there..??Looks just like the one in the picture.Mine gets mounted on the roof.Mountains around here kill reception with it in lower areas on the car.SEE:

Wrong,
Yellow is the satellite antennae, green is the terrestrial one. You only need to hook up yellow.
You can use any antennae. Check ebay for the module.

Well I guess there is a first time for everything . Guy at the local audio shop today said I needed both . Probaly had an expensive one he wanted to sell me. Anyway I need to make sure they can unlock the module at the dealer before I buy an antenna anyway as the module didnt come with my car.

that pink thing is what the factory antenna ends look like but their yellow and green on the car. I think it locks them in place.

I can get pics later if you want, but...When I installed the Sirius module I had the problem of where to put the antenna and what I did was:
Works great because it is only fiberglass right there, can't see any wires or the antenna
-David
- removed the far left tail light
- drilled a small hole through the fiberglass to get into the trunk area
- ran the antenna through the hole into the trunk area but still under the carpet
- the final position for the antenna was right above the far left tail light (drivers side)
